You may have noticed I am a big fan of rugged individualism, self-reliance, individual freedoms, liberty, self-determination and defiance heavy on the defiance.
These uniquely American characteristics course through our veins and pulse in our genes, gifts from our amazing, defiant forefathers.
They sailed across an unknown ocean, to an unknown land, to establish a country free of kings and tyrants.
In securing our freedom, they wrote a constitution that limited the power of the federal government.
They knew even back then that absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Of the Bill of Rights, the 10th Amendment says this: Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved for the states, respectively, or to the people.
Now, I am no lawyer or windbag lawmaker. But I find those words easy to understand.
You need not be a constitutional scholar to know the 10th Amendment was written to limit the abusive growth of power by the federal government.
As Thomas Jefferson stated, The States should be left to do whatever acts they can do as well as the federal government.
The current gang of political punks, scoundrels and crooks in Washington, D.C., is not worthy to stand in Jeffersons shadow.
In an attempt to weaken the roles and responsibilities of the states, Fedzilla has worked tirelessly over the years to destroy the 10th Amendment. Fed interlopers have argued that the Commerce Clause of the Constitution is more important and relevant than the 10th Amendment.
We have stood by as Fedzilla has grown exponentially and has become a repressive force in every facet of our lives.
But there is hope for the rights of states to determine their own destinies.
Texas, under the leadership of the good Gov. Rick Perry, is joining 16 other states that have already made their defiant, sovereign statement of autonomy, appropriately.
They have now evoked the 10th Amendment to put the brakes on Emperor Obamas mob-like fiscal mandates, attempting to force states to accept the so-called stimulus money and thereby become slaves to Fedzilla control.
With unprecedented gluttony, Emperor Obama is bankrupting the future of our children and grandchildren.
Perry is doing the right thing. For of all the states, Texas must never allow itself to become a slave to Washington, D.C.
Instead, we Texans must chart our own economic destiny and recovery by refusing the stimulus money, freezing state spending, cutting state taxes across the board and offering tax incentives to existing and new businesses. Additionally, I urge the governor to immediately call a conference of Texas business leaders and request they develop a Texas economic road map for recovery. Let Texas lead the way.
Tell Emperor Obama not to mess with Texas. Dont tread on me.
In the spirit of the brave defenders who gave birth to Texas by giving their lives at the Alamo, I say Remember the 10th Amendment.

Way to go Nuge!
I hope he can help with this fight.
Gratuitous fav drummer, gif.
Just so, and not just in Texas. However, and it's just a hunch, but I think if Texas were to step up big on this issue, quite a few other states would get off the fence. Would LOVE to see it!
Now we have Uncle Ted on board. This is gonna get real good.
He should run against Chuck Norris for President of Texas.
LOL
That would be a battle of epic proportions.
bump for Uncle Ted
Hope so. One thing we can say with some certainty if he chooses to take up the cause, it WILL be loud and WILL get some attention.
Oregon ping......here’s an opportunity to accomplish something in OREGON....a bill HAS been introduced in the Oregon Legislature (by the minority, of course)....however, a huge showing to the LEGISLATURE while it’s in session MAY make a difference....Otherwise, as was told by a recent House Rep....it has no chance of probably even getting a hearing!!! Are we ready to rumble???? For a SPECIFIC reason????
Who introduced it and what is its number or name?
Well I suppose the one thing that can be said about politicians generally and Dims in particular, they're nothing if not hypocrites. Just my suspicion but I think they have been allowed to get away with lying disingenuousness re their constituents for so long it's just standard fare any more.
Time to move against the Kenyan Liar.
I don't mean to butt in but there's a House Joint Memorial hjm0017 PDF file on the State Assembly's WEBSITE. Couldn't find a date on it, only that it's included in the 2009 Assembly.
10A bump
All well and good, but it took 10% of Patriots to drag the rest of the Colonists to Liberty.
