Ted Nugent: Be defiant; fight for 10th Amendment
Waco Tribune ^ | March 15, 2009 | TED NUGENT Texas Wildman

Posted on 03/14/2009 10:26:42 PM PDT by ForGod'sSake

You may have noticed I am a big fan of rugged individualism, self-reliance, individual freedoms, liberty, self-determination and defiance — heavy on the defiance.

These uniquely American characteristics course through our veins and pulse in our genes, gifts from our amazing, defiant forefathers.

They sailed across an unknown ocean, to an unknown land, to establish a country free of kings and tyrants.

In securing our freedom, they wrote a constitution that limited the power of the federal government.

They knew even back then that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Of the Bill of Rights, the 10th Amendment says this: Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved for the states, respectively, or to the people.

Now, I am no lawyer or windbag lawmaker. But I find those words easy to understand.

You need not be a constitutional scholar to know the 10th Amendment was written to limit the abusive growth of power by the federal government.

As Thomas Jefferson stated, “The States should be left to do whatever acts they can do as well as the federal government.”

The current gang of political punks, scoundrels and crooks in Washington, D.C., is not worthy to stand in Jefferson’s shadow.

In an attempt to weaken the roles and responsibilities of the states, Fedzilla has worked tirelessly over the years to destroy the 10th Amendment. Fed interlopers have argued that the Commerce Clause of the Constitution is more important and relevant than the 10th Amendment.

We have stood by as Fedzilla has grown exponentially and has become a repressive force in every facet of our lives.

But there is hope for the rights of states to determine their own destinies.

Texas, under the leadership of the good Gov. Rick Perry, is joining 16 other states that have already made their defiant, sovereign statement of autonomy, appropriately.

They have now evoked the 10th Amendment to put the brakes on Emperor Obama’s mob-like fiscal mandates, attempting to force states to accept the so-called stimulus money and thereby become slaves to Fedzilla control.

With unprecedented gluttony, Emperor Obama is bankrupting the future of our children and grandchildren.

Perry is doing the right thing. For of all the states, Texas must never allow itself to become a slave to Washington, D.C.

Instead, we Texans must chart our own economic destiny and recovery by refusing the stimulus money, freezing state spending, cutting state taxes across the board and offering tax incentives to existing and new businesses.  Additionally, I urge the governor to immediately call a conference of Texas business leaders and request they develop a Texas economic road map for recovery. Let Texas lead the way.

Tell Emperor Obama not to mess with Texas. Don’t tread on me.

In the spirit of the brave defenders who gave birth to Texas by giving their lives at the Alamo, I say “Remember the 10th Amendment.”

>>All well and good, but it took 10% of Patriots to drag the rest of the Colonists to Liberty.<<

One of my Drill Instructors used to say:”There’s always 10% that don’t get the word.” 10% is all we need to get the ball rolling. And someone yelling loud enough and well enough that the other 90% will hear.

We have Rush, Michelle and Ann as our voices. Now we have Chuck and Uncle Ted as the yellers. All we need are the pitchforks and torches.

This Texan is with you. Many fire fighters in this state are on board and feel exactly the same. You hit the nail on the head.

We love ya Ted.

We also recognize the courage it takes for you to put yourself out there.

God Bless and keep you and your family

...but it took 10% of Patriots to drag the rest of the Colonists to Liberty.

I'm not a history buff but seems like I recall reading somewhere the "colonists" were split roughly in three parts; ⅓ wanted independence, ⅓ wanted to remain loyal to the crown and ⅓ were, uh, swing voters ;^)

But point taken, a minority of committed men were enough to create independence for the rest. Just a guess, but I suspect we're split along similar lines today.

The way things are going, you might have to take a number.

Nah, Texas can always make room for another patriot.

"The federal government, then, appears to be the organ through which the united republics communicate with foreign nations, and with each other. Their submission to its operation is voluntary: its councils, its sovereignty is an emanation from theirs, not a flame by which they have been consumed, nor a vortex in which they are swallowed up. Each is still a perfect state, still sovereign, still independent, and still capable, should the occasion require, to resume the exercise of its functions, as such, in the most unlimited extent.

Gereat piece! Still in all there are many even here on FR who will argue til the wee hours that the States surrendered their sovereignty to the "general" government when they created the general government. The States and The People retained all powers not specifically delegated to the feral government, but for some reason that's a difficult concept for some to grasp.

The fact that the States and The People have failed to defend those powers doesn't change a single word in our Constitution concerning those powers. It does say we have been negligent in our duties and responsibilities however. It's past time for us to do something about it.

Some State's did try to “Take a Stand”, it was called the War for Southern Independence, we lost!

The good news is that most of the Southern States are ready to take another swing at it. We are trying to get our people out of there stupor that they have been in for the last 135 years.

We here in North Alabama have decided to take a stand on Sat. March 28th at 12:00 noon we intend to have a rally to protest the Tax King (Obama) and the Tax Queen(Pellosi).

Come and help us get the word out that we are going to have a “Tea Party” to light the fires of Independence once again.

The Son's of Liberty will rise again to take the Torch of Freedom once again.

Come to Rhodes Ferry Park in Decatur, Alabama on the 28th of March and help us raise the Torch once again.

Liberty or Death!

Let’ Roll!
