I shop local too...Walmart does not have such good prices. Plenty of supermarkets beat Walmart...as for the meat, I would not feed it to my dog. Has anyone noticed the trend in supermarkets that meat can come from US, Canada and Mexico per packaging? I won’t eat it...knowing how poor the sanitation in Mexico is...not to mention the Walmart meat I tried was awful. My chicken and most meat is produced in Ohio where I live.

Here at the local Meijer stores (We have two in Jackson Mi) almost all of the root veggies like onions, carrots, potatoes, etc that I buy are grown right here in the county. Lots of the cold weather crops like brussels sprouts and cabbage come from here in Michigan as well. The same can be said for apples and cherries.
