Global warming or global cooling?

U.S. carbon dioxide emissions have been essentially flat since 2000, while global emissions are rapidly increasing, according to new figures released by the Global Carbon Project.

Global carbon dioxide emissions are outpacing even the worst-case projections of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, according to the Global Carbon Project.

Global emissions rose 2.9 percent in 2007, keeping total emissions above 2001 levels, higher than the worst-case emissions projections released that year by the IPCC, according to the Heartland Institute, a public policy think tank that examines global warming theory and policy.

The U.S. is not responsible for the rapid rise in global emissions, according to James M. Taylor, a senior fellow at the Heartland Institute.

While many are seizing on this information to demand the U.S. enact severe greenhouse gas restrictions, Taylor notes U.S. emissions have risen just 3 percent over the entire decade, versus a global emissions rise of 2.9 percent for 2007 alone.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, America’s greenhouse gas footprint in fact has declined after factoring in carbon sinks and greenhouse gases other than carbon dioxide.

Second, Taylor observes, an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide is worrisome only if it results in real-world climate disruptions. In 2001, IPCC predicted that under its worst-case emissions scenario, temperatures already should have risen 0.4 degrees Celsius by now.

In the real world, however, temperatures have fallen by a nearly similar amount.

The discrepancy between IPCC temperature predictions and real-world temperature observations validates the findings of many of the world’s leading climate scientists, whose research shows IPCC computer models significantly overestimate future warming.

“There is little reason to believe IPCC computer models predicting rapid future warming when their predictions of rapid current warming have already been proven false in the real world,” said Taylor.

Rapidly developing nations such as China, India, and Indonesia account for three-fourths of emissions growth. Carbon dioxide emissions in the United States are virtually flat, Taylor said.

To support their argument, advocates of man-made global warming have intermingled elements of greenhouse activity and infrared absorption to promote the image that carbon dioxide traps heat near earth's surface like molecular greenhouses insulating our atmosphere. Their imagery, however, is seriously flawed.

A greenhouse is simply a physical structure that traps hot air. Solar radiation initiates the heating sequence inside a greenhouse when photons in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum, entering through glass or transparent plastic panels, are absorbed by surfaces of opaque objects. Reflected photons exit freely; neither they, nor their "heat," are trapped inside. Drivers who regularly park their mobile greenhouses in sunny locations exploit this principle by placing reflective white cardboard behind their windshields to expel some before they're absorbed.

Although transparent to visible photons, greenhouse panels absorb weaker radiation in the infrared (IR) region of the spectrum. Solar IR photons can't enter. This fact requires spectroscopists to use exotic window materials such as polished rock salt in their IR pursuits. Visible radiation, not IR, energizes a greenhouse.

Advocates misuse the term "absorption" of photons by substances as being analogous to water sopped up by a sponge, unchanged, implying physical entrapment. Actually, it means that the photon smoothly transfers its radiant energy to kinetic form. Absorption is an energy transition, not a trap; photons don't occupy molecular cages. Similarly, emission is the reverse kinetic to radiant transfer.

An absorbed photon disappears as its discrete packet (quantum) of radiant energy dissipates into a diverse kinetic assortment of motion, vibrations or collisions involving atoms and molecules of the absorbing substance. Imagine one shot of your metabolic energy, through cue stick and cue ball, scattering a rack of balls on a pool table. These transfers obey the second law of thermodynamics, popularly stated as the spontaneous downhill flow from high to low energy, or hot to cold. Inside a greenhouse, visible photons define the hilltop from which this flow begins. IR photons, when emitted, are near the bottom of a typical greenhouse energy hill.

Continuing the sequence, the confined greenhouse atmosphere is convectively heated through molecular collisions with hotter opaque surfaces; its composition is at least 99.95% by volume nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor and argon. Carbon dioxide, only about 0.035% of the trapped hot air, is insignificant in this role. Drivers of mobile greenhouses recognize this principle too, when they crack open windows of their parked vehicles to partially disable the trap. Any gas can convectively transfer heat, but no gas can possibly mimic greenhouse-type entrapment of hot air. A greenhouse-carbon dioxide analogy has no logical basis.

Because a greenhouse obviously warms in the sunshine, the second law of thermodynamics is sometimes misconstrued. However, using the pool table analogy, if a person could repeatedly strike moving balls as rapidly as the sun pours visible photons into a greenhouse, the chaos on the table reasonably simulates greenhouse heating. But terminate the energy input, and the dissipation process mandated by the second law becomes obvious; a greenhouse cools, and the balls stop.

Advocates err when they equate absorption of IR photons by atmospheric carbon dioxide to absorption of exponentially higher intensity visible photons by objects inside a greenhouse. This exponential energy relationship, the Stefan-Boltzmann Law, is fundamental to thermal radiation and establishes the location of visible photons at the summit and IR photons near the base of typical greenhouse energy hills. For example, visible photons carry the intense energy representing solar surface temperatures. This intensity rapidly decreases with temperature of the emitter such that the human body liberally emits IR photons through our metabolic process, but is much too cold to emit visible photons. Even warm dirt emits IR photons from these lower temperature foothills of human habitation.

Consequently, carbon dioxide should properly be compared with water rather than with greenhouse contents. In all of its phases (gas, liquid and solid), water absorbs in the same region of the IR spectrum as carbon dioxide, and both are transparent to visible radiation. Significantly, the polar ice caps, glaciers and general snow cover all absorb this weaker radiation, obey the second law mandate, and remain frozen. However, advocates mistakenly claim that, despite existing for ages under direct solar IR bombardment, these frozen masses are melting now because carbon dioxide "traps" and leaks IR photons like soggy sponges. They offer no corroboration or experimental evidence to support their exaggeration.

The second law of thermodynamics prohibits carbon dioxide from arresting or reversing the spontaneous downhill flow of energy, putting advocates in the awkward position of insisting that a trace atmospheric component's innocent participation in a natural heat dissipation process is responsible for warming a planet. The fictitious "trapped heat" property, which they aggressively promote with a dishonest "greenhouse gas" metaphor, is based on their misrepresentation of natural absorption and emission energy transfer processes and disregard of two fundamental laws of physics. Their promotional embellishments have also corrupted the meaning of "greenhouse effect," a term originally relating the loose confinement of warm nighttime air near ground level by cloud cover, to hot air trapped inside a greenhouse.

If this Global Warming doesn’t stop we’re all going to Freeze to Death. There is no such thing as Global Warming or Climate Change, they are just scams for corrupt politicians to get leverage and raise taxes to enslave us. The liberal mind needs everybody to love them, even inanimate objects like trees, water and air. Since they are living immoral lifestyles their Earth religion is an easy way to become morally superior w/o having to change their lifestyles. Earth worship is an opiate for the braindead masses. Global warming is a war that even liberals will fight since the only casualties are capitalists....& employees.

The Green movement is really the old Red Movement w/better advertising. The sad part is that most capitalists have fallen victim to this feel goodism that the farce brings. Just as there was no hole in the ozone layer caused by man there is no greenhouse gasses either. These are terms that scientist hypothesized and then conveniently declared consensus to eliminate discussion or further research. The research has shown not only is there no Global Warming but the earth is actually cooling. Nobody has to tell NE, WI or DC this year. Well, DC has its own excess Carbon Emissions.

Why does the scientific and political world continue to tell algore’s myth? There are a myriad of reasons but the real one is that the Dems want to use the issue to club Repubs w/it for their expansion of gummit. They have been nurturing this Green fib for decades. If they are the Green Party then everything they say having to do w/the earth will be considered truth. Having the Establishment media and Establishment Hollyweird promoting their claim America has accepted it. Libs have become the self appointed protectors of the earth and all that is relates to that stewardship. If the truth that there is no GW using fossil fuels, then there would be no reasons not to exploit the resources. This is their ultimate fear, our Freedom.

Earth worship is made to order for liberal women who want to be moralistic w/o any self discipline. They mearly stick a No Oil sticker on their car, recycle their water bottles and carry condoms to be ethically superiority to everybody who doesn’t. We also hear how green Windmills are, when in reality they don’t hold a candle to Nuclear or Coal power. Nuclear is far more dependable, cleaner and cheaper than wind, yet these same braindeads have poisoned the nuclear well on fictitious fears. Coal has even fewer reasons for not expanding due to plentiful supplies so they need the Global Scamming argument. More consensus science to shackle this entire Country to oppressive electric bills that will soon triple.

Just like recycling is an inefficient way of reprocessing materials to the point of costing far more to collect than it is worth, so too are the boogeyman industries of the Left. By far the most efficient and cleanest way to move people over distances is by car. Oil and gas are the easiest and most perfect forms of energy available. The simplicity of moving oil from the well to the tank is one of the greatest accomplishments of mankind. The Earth Nazis are destroying man’s greatest invention for purely selfish political reasons. The Earth Zombies want nothing more than to destroy Freedom and enslave us to their universal poverty.

The most sickening display of complete idiocy is their war on the housing industry. God’s most perfect solar panel, is the tree and they have made harvesting these solar collectors a crime of the highest order. Right down there w/drilling for oil. The Earth Nazis have decided that the only type of house you can own is a Green house which means only petroleum products or dung. The tree is the easiest and most efficient method of producing materials to make houses. All you have to do is plant a seed and wait 20 yrs and you have the most perfect material to build a house. There are thousands of square miles to grow these forests outside of Manhattan and DC cept those Earth Nazis will not allow you to harvest these trees. In some cases trees that are already dead and only need hauling to the mill yet must be left to burn. That is the logic of the Earthists. Trees are the only truly Green housing material.

The Earth Thugs are attempting to put us all in their economic Death Camps using Global Scamming to reach that goal. They are enslaving us to high priced gas/electricity that will be in short supplies. They have not allowed the development of our resources which was a huge factor in this economic crisis. They will not allow any form of energy development no matter how clean claiming Climate Change. They hide behind their mythical alternative energy facade which is decades away if ever. They need us out of our houses and cars living as a Turd World Country to gain power. This is their means to an end and they believe that when they destroy America they have done their Earth godess’ will. There is no science behind this myth, only a consensus of corrupt scientists who all believe and want the same outcome, destruction. God’s earth is fine, its the Green Earth Mamas who have eaten too much Acid Reign. Rather, we need to break the Earth Nazi’s shackles and let Freedom Reign.
