Mark Twain once said, I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. Theres a corollary to that quote in the political context: Never let policy interfere with your politics. The corollary has no known author because too many senators claim to have made it up. Last week, however, Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl claimed at least partial ownership of the quote when he voted in favor of Elena Kagans nomination for Solicitor General.
Kagan is just one of a band of radical lawyers President Obama has nominated to lead the Department of Justice. These lawyers are the kind of leftist legal activists Andy McCarthy described as Yale-educated and ACLU-trained. Under their leadership, we could witness the most aggressive leftward shift in national legal policy in more than a generation. As Solicitor General, Kagan would easily be one of the most influential of the band.
Kyl knew that Kagan kicked the military off of Harvards law school campus during a war because she believed the militarys policy concerning homosexuals was a profound wrong -- a moral injustice of the first order. He also knew that when she challenged the militarys policy in the Supreme Court, the Court ruled against her position. Unanimously. Supreme Court watchers believe she is at least a top five contender for any vacancy. (Kyls approval should help her in that regard.) How does she view the current Court? She has questioned Justice Thomass qualifications and referred to Justice Scalias work as ultimate wrong-headedness. None of that moved Kyl.........

The GOP are, god awful pussies.
I haven't seen any consistent "leadership" out of anyone in Congress that calls themselves a Republican in quite a while. Are they all RINOs?
Long past time for a new party. The GOP is decrepit and needs to be replaced.
No, they are not RINO’s....they are the average republican.....WE conservatives are the RINO’s, because we do not believe the same crap they do...that would make me a proud rino...
Indeed.
Amazing << Hear this. Feel this, and tell me that this isn't music.
Hey Barack HUSSEIN Obama, I went to Harvard too! That was the worst fieldtrip of my life, but I went there...

Lord knows Kyl was very energizer to ram thru the illegal alien bill a year ago ! The Repub senate is a train wreck
Jon Kyl has the best interests of Jon Kyl at heart.
Sorry Ms. Daly they are NOT "conservatives", they are just democratlites!
BTW Ms.Daly I live in Indiana and Senator Luger is no "conservative" either!
You've got a good point there!
I'm sick of voting for guys that are Republicans during the campaign, but when they get to DC they turn out to be closet dims.
I didn’t notice the Democrats helping out with President Bush’s nominations. They obstructed numerous good candidates. So, we can’t even be bothered to block bad candidates, who are not only political radicals, but fundamentally incompetent?
These guys like Kyl are either consciousless or morons. Either they don’t know how politics work, or Obama has promised them more pork for being good little boys. I suspect the latter is the more probable explanation. There are trillions of dollars of pork being passed around, and they want some, even if they vote against it, knowing it will pass anyway.
Oh really? How many national political offices have you been elected to?
the rinos are castrati.
they always figure out what they should have done
after the dems did it to them.
Since they control the party, what does that makes us (conservatives)?
I think if you read what I said, I said either . . . or. And I also said that it was probably or.
You’re right, sorry.
“The GOP are, god awful pussies.”
You are giving pu**ies a bad name.
“As Majority Whip, Senator Kyl has an opportunity to take a big breath, step in to the leadership vacuum in the GOP, draw a line in the sand and say “Enough.” It is President Obama’s absolute right to nominate whomever he believes is the best possible nominee for each available position. But it is also the absolute responsibility of the Senate to ensure that each nominee does not primarily rely upon extreme ideology as the decision-making guideposts rather than navigating by constitutional principles. Passionate activism has its place, but not in positions that demand thoughtful consideration and a deep respect for the Constitution. If Senator Kyl or someone, anyone, would stand on principle and plainly state the case, a tidal wave of Americans who are well beyond fed up would respect, support and remember what has become so tragically rare on today’s political landscape — bold action taken because of the courage of conviction and in defense of the Constitution. From www.kaydaly.com “
I agree 100%.
Alas, these politicians let courtesy override standing up for America.
These are anti-American extremists that Obama has put in power. Obama himself is an extremist. We need politicians who will expose the nake emperor and not be mute as he goes about destroying the country.
“I didnt notice the Democrats helping out with President Bushs nominations. They obstructed numerous good candidates. “
The best candidates, like John Bolton and some very good judicial candidates, got blocked.
Too conservative.
The Democrats suffered ZERO political backlash for vile and despicable behavior.
But EXTREMIST leftwingers?!?!? They get a pass. It’s a travesty.
And BTW, Senator Kyl is one of the good guys. Conservative and consitently so on almost all issues. Stood against the Obama spending monstrosities.
Why they wimp out on appointments is beyond me.
