It’s the billions and billions of dollars being made on the drugs, mostly coming from marijuana sales. They’re fighting over the money and whether they could get guns from here or not they would arm themselves. And the military grade fully automatic weapons and grenades and other military hardware they have is not coming from this country. It’s coming from somewhere else.

Ri-ight. Just give all the tweekers machetes instead and they'll sit in the corner and be peaceful.

We have been 'fighting' the war on Drugs almost as long as the War on Poverty. Just another quagmire. Until Coke is as cheap as Pepsi, there will be turf wars fighting over who makes the profit. Users aren't going to quit, but sunlight might send the cockroaches scuttling elsewhere.

(No, I do not advocate the use of currently illegal drugs, but we have been doing the same thing for a while now and expecting different results.)

Let X = the Unknown, and
Spurt = slow drip under pressure...

New Zealand's foremost firearm control Authority and "Gun Expert" here.

All you need to be an "expert" is an Opinion and far too much time on your hands. Anyone can do it -- Alpers has proven it!

As if import were the only way to get guns. I'm convinced that the further to the left anyone is the less they understand technology. Guns do not have to be made in a factory, and they involve no high tech methods. During WWII the British made Sten guns (a nasty little 9MM submachinegune) in basements and garages out of simple tubing and sheet metal with only the bolt being a machined part, and a simple one at that. The AK 47 is only slightly more complex. An average machinist could make a good living producing black market guns. I've even seen a picture of a working revolver that was made in a penitentiary machine shop while the guards weren't looking. Guns are just machines. A prohibition on them produces the same kind of black market that liquor prohibition did in this country once.

Longer. The WOD started very early in the 20th century when southern DemocRats got laws passed to outlaw cocaine because they were seeking new ways to imprison blacks in their plantation/prisons.

The only problem I see is the lack of gun USE on the border.

Drug use and automatic weapons result of porkulus. People on the border are having to get more guns to protect themselves, but since they are losing their homes due to their medical bills they have replaced the prescriptions of anxiety medications with pot because its sold on their street corners cheaper..the guns have been collected by the mexican gangs as the ex homeowners left because they had to pay for the druglords house and could no longer aford insurance for their illnesses. sarc...

Drug violence is the result of drug prohibition. Just as alcohol violence was the result of alcohol prohibition (as proven by the fact that the violence ceased once alcohol prohibition was ended.)

Gun prohibition is (would be) just as effective as is (was) drug (alcohol) prohibition at reducing illegal use of the prohibited item/substance: It would be totally ineffective. But it would be at least as effective at engendering even more/worse violence.

I guess the drug dealers are too honorable to import guns along with the drugs. I mean once guns are banned in the US all drug dealers will comply with the laws. And the Libs spout this nonsense with a straight face. All it will do is make a market for illegal imported or home made guns.
