WASHINGTON President Obama weighed in Wednesday on the escalating drug war on the U.S.-Mexico border, saying that he was looking at possibly deploying National Guard troops to contain the violence but ruled out any immediate military move.
"We're going to examine whether and if National Guard deployments would make sense and under what circumstances they would make sense," Obama said during an interview with journalists for regional papers, including a McClatchy reporter.
"I don't have a particular tipping point in mind," he said. "I think it's unacceptable if you've got drug gangs crossing our borders and killing U.S. citizens."

“What I am worried about is that he might be trying to protect these people from armed citizens. Good excuse for a gun roundup.
“The military is here. No need for guns on private citizens. To dangerous.”
EXACTLY what I was thinking! Don’t want the stupid people to hurt themselves, let the state and federal militias take care of you.
Well, he didn't do squat during his first SIX YEARS as President.
I never have any problems or long waits to get pseudoephedrine.
actually, the patience of the enemies' commie/islamo ideology is amazing...the willingness to 'sacrifice' [while living the good life] for generations chipping away at us kept us slumbering...
times comin to see just how much intestinal fortitude a red-blooded American really has today, in our own back yards...
especially after sustaining 999 'cuts' and big brother got us in a chokehold...
BLOAT...LFOD...
I thought he wasn’t sending anyone under any circumstances.
Again I ask - what state do you live in? Not every state has the same set of laws regarding pseudoephedrine.
The other thing I have found, that for some reason, most retailers around here (Little Rock, Arkansas) seem to have supply issues with products containing this ingredient. It is not unusual to find that when you carry the little card from the shelf to the counter, they say “sorry - we are still out”. So - the answer - buy a few boxes when they DO get some in... Oooppss... can’t do that either. Strict limits on how much you can buy at one time.
Bleh.
Where did you previously ask me what state I live in?
I'm in Michigan.

I've never taken a little card to the counter. I just go to the counter and ask for the pseudophedrine, I sign some piece of paper, they give me the stuff and I leave. I've never had them be out either. In fact, they usually have a couple of brands to choose from, including the cheaper generic brand.
Particularly since every Mexican over the rank of Corporal is on the cartel payroll.
I asked it in general in reply to another post, not of you directly or specifically.
My issues must be just another among the myriad of issues in Arkansas...
Your post to me said ‘again’ so I thought I missed something.
Actually, the President and Congress DO have the authority to secure our borders. That's one of the few mandates they have within our Constitutional Republic - the States agreed when they signed on. However, I can't see Obami following through with this. All talk.
What people seem to be missing here is that 0bama wants to put troops at our border for the same reason the Soviets had troops on theirs. It’s not going to be to keep people out. It’s going to be to keep them in.
“Well, he (Bush) didn’t do squat during his first SIX YEARS as President.”
You must be a Democrat toady because that is their talking point while they ignore tax cuts, a booming economoy, jobs, security, etc. etc. etc.
But Bush never sent troops to the Mehico border where they immediately would have been challenged by illegals hoping, just hoping to get shot by a US Soldier so they & the Liberals could declare the US Military has declared war on humanity and demand public trials of our soldiers.
Sir, GROW UP.

We are sufficient for the day.
LFOD, indeed.
Last summer I was in Santa Fe and met a guy who had come to SF for the weekend. He had been in Juarez on a business trip, and the weekend before they had found four dead bodies right behind his hotel. His company then took him out of the hotel and sent him to stay in El Paso, but he still had to drive across the border every day. So he had taken the weekend to go north and get out of the “line of fire” for a few days. (I don’t recall what his line of work was... I want to say either engineering or manufacturing.) But he said it was really, really bad down there.
I will, of course do this in spite of any Constitutional issues to the contrary.
Say, wasn't there some talk about a fence a while back?
That’s what I was thinking! But the stimulus package had that governor go around clause, and just like Glenn Beck said, it will be used to call up state troops. And really, who is going to stop him? The legislative branch? The judicial branch? He owns them.
isn't ironic how war in Mexico COULD turn out to be a good thing for us here?
