So Montel goes from a national show with hundreds of thousands of viewers to a stint on some podunk network with an audience of literally hundreds.

Quite the fall, I’d say. Quite the fall.

"Quite the fall, I'd say. Quite the fall."

Quite right. Talk about a gig with no future.

It's like taking a job with the ship's band on the Titanic.

On a similar subject while following the Randi Rhodes will be back on the air anytime now* saga I ran across this. Only click on the link if you follow the intricacies of talk radio because it's some lefty website. I only give it as a reference source.

http://www.pubrecord.org/nationworld/752-progressive-radio-host-peter-b-collins-to-air-final-show-next-friday.html

The short version is that liberal host Peter B. Collins is leaving the air after five years because of the “stranglehold of rightwing corporate control over the public’s airwaves has made it impossible for him to continue.” His show replaced Rhodes on many of her stations after she went off the air about six weeks ago. The above reason is often given as a reason for the failure of a liberal radio host to succeed and having few listeners with little chance of audience growth has absolutely nothing to do with it.

*Rhodes is supposedly looking for a new syndicator for her show and may or may not get one.
