Call for White House lawn vegie patch
Herald Sun ^ | 12 March 2009

NEARLY 85,000 people have signed an online petition calling for part of the White House lawn to be turned into a vegetable patch, the plan's germinator said today.

"The idea is for the Obama family to plant an organic vegetable garden on part of the White House lawn, with the cultivated vegies going to the White House kitchen and any overflow going to feed those in need," Roger Doiron, said, adding the idea had sprouted last year.

If the Obamas were to plant a garden on the White House grounds, it would have the "inspirational potential" to spawn millions of similar gardens, not only in the United States but around the world, Mr Doiron said.

Backing for the idea has come from as far away as Kenya, where farmers asked if they could sign the petition and make a financial contribution to the cause.

The town of Kingston in New York state has been inspired by Mr Doiron's plan to put in a vegetable garden in front of their town hall.

In Flint, Michigan, city officials have approved "a three-acre garden smack-dab in the middle of the municipal complex," said Mr Doiron.

Maybe he could plant water mellons? or greens? Think of the homeless he could feed with all that produce he could grow? It might really look kinda pretty too. Michele could come out in short shorts and a halter top to weed and fertilize the plants too.
Just maybe we could re-build President Jackson’s outhouse on the lawn too—it would be historical. It was a 12 holer too so that he could take the hold cabinet out when nature called. Might need to be bigger with all the Czars and stuff Obama has added.

Pretty soon you’ll be required to grow veggies in your front yard because your back yard will be dedicated to the micro steel smelters needed to meet the Five Year Plan production goals.

Micro steel smelters?

That sounds like a great idea.

Where have I heard of that before?

not a bad idea. That way they could get keep all the crap in Washington and not pollute the rest of the States.
