NEW YORK -- February 23, 2009: Westwood One is set to launch the new Fred Thompson Show on March 2 in the noon-2 p.m. slot, and it has more than 125 stations already on board, including stations in the DC, Dallas, Houston, and Minneapolis markets.
"Of all the radio talkers out there, how many can say they've debated in the Senate, campaigned for President of the United States, had a successful TV career on Law & Order, and shared the screen with Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, Robert De Niro, and Sissy Spacek?" said Westwood One EVP/News & Talk Programming Bart Tessler. "Thompson is as unique as they come, and that will make for exceptional radio."
Westwood One EVP/Affiliate Sales Dennis Green said, "This will be the biggest talk radio launch since Bill O'Reilly. We have not even hit the air, and radio stations from coast to coast are ready for Fred Thompson to speak to their audiences about the issues that matter."
Thompson is a former Senator and was a 2008 Republican presidential candidate, and spent played DA Arthur Branch on NBC's Law & Order from 2002-2007. His Westwood One show will offer political and pop-culture talk, interviews, and listener calls.
Taking O’Reilly’s place, I guess.
I would have to say, unless he’s reading it, there will be alot of dead space.
Fred Thompson interviewed the creator of “Law and Order.”
I turned it off, because it was as energetic at his president campaign.
maybe he will be a better talker than doer.
LOL.
zzzZZZZzzzZZ
I’m absolutely serious. LOL. ;-)
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Will he speak for a few minutes and then spin records like he did in his FL fundraiser :))
His wife is very energetic and she is on his program every day right?
Who wants to listen to a former evil, racist Planned Parenthood
lobbyist?
I like the internet feed where once he goes to commercial all you head is old jazz/bebop jazz. I like it!
FRed will be awesome on the radio!
I’m ready for Fred. The only clear voice in this last election cycle outside of the loon patrol.
Hey, I like and respect Fred Thompson, but he was very slowed-paced on his radio show today.
