Last Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) promised to allow a vote on Sen. Jeff Sessions' (R-AL) amendment to the Omnibus Appropriations bill. However, today, reports surfaced that Sen. Reid may break his promise and block a vote on Sessions' amendment to fully reauthorize E-Verify for the next five years.
There is no good reason why the Senate should not reauthorize this non-controversial program. E-Verify will help to deter illegal aliens from taking American jobs. A vote for cloture before a vote is allowed on the Sessions Amendment is irresponsible and would do a great disservice to millions of unemployed Americans.
TAKE ACTION!
The Senate must vote and pass this bill tonight, as the continuing resolution expires tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11th. There is no time to waste! http://capwiz.com/eagleforum/callalert/index.tt?alertid=12884266
It’s Reid just trying to lock up the illegal alien voting block.
Its Reid just trying to lock up the illegal alien voting block.

You win the prize! :)
Sad isn’t it
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! :D
give me my prize now! LOL!!!!
Yes it is. If Obama wasn’t so power hungry, I’d recommend bringing back the crime of treason . . .
His positioning vis a vis this particular program suggests that he's very involved in that sort of thing.
Or maybe it's Mrs. Reid ~ could be she likes cheap maids, and swarthy young men hanging around the house for who knows what purposes.
Whatever it is, Reid is positively strange regarding illegal aliens.
wow.

Can anyone get photos of the people working in Reid’s yard?

Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri Freepers: call your senators Shelby, Cocrane, Bond to hold out for e-verify!
Dear Senator Reid:
You seem to have forgotten that you work for us - not the other way around.

His reply (proving the letter wasn't read and that he doesn't care):
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I appreciate hearing from you.
I share your concern about the current state of the economy, and I understand what a devastating impact the economic downturn has had on Nevadans. Americans have suffered from stagnating or declining incomes at the same time that the cost has increased for everything from food, to health care, to college tuition. We also face a serious credit crisis that has put our economy into a tailspin and cost many Americans their jobs.
I know that during these difficult times many are skeptical about our efforts to stimulate economic recovery, but the people of Nevada deserve to know what is at stake. A national economic collapse beyond our control has brought our state's economy to a standstill. A triple punch of corporate greed, excessive debt and lax government oversight has left Nevada and our country facing the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. That is why I am pleased that Congress and President Obama joined together to enact the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Public Law 111-5), a plan that provides meaningful relief for hard working Americans and makes investments in infrastructure and renewable energy to create jobs.
In terms of immediate relief, the tax cuts included in the bill will put extra money in the pockets of Americans in the months to come. Ninety-five percent of all Nevada working families will benefit from Make Work Pay tax credit, which will provide $400 for single filers and $800 for married couples. In addition, the bill improves the education tax credit by increasing its value to $2,500 and making it available to more families and for four years of college. Although these improvements are a step toward putting America back on track, I will continue fighting to implement broad-based tax cuts that lower the tax burden for middle-class families.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 makes an investment in Nevada of more than $200 million for highways, high-speed rail, bridges and tunnels, and another $50 million for mass transit. It includes nearly $100 million for water and sewer projects. Also, the bill invests in renewable energy and energy efficiency to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and improve our environment. Nevada's renewable resources are abundant and with this investment we can lead the nation in providing affordable and sustainable clean energy.
You should also know that the President and Congress take seriously the need to be accountable for and transparent with the investment of your hard-earned tax dollars. That is why the President has tasked Vice President Biden to lead an unprecedented oversight effort for the money to be spent under the plan. He has appointed a tough, former Secret Service agent to lead the Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board. Finally, you can track how this money is being spent online at www.recovery.gov
I know that times are tough in America, but I believe we can create jobs, invest in America, and emerge from this crisis stronger than we have ever been before. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. My best wishes to you.
Sincerely,
HARRY REID
United States Senator
Nevada
I just called both my Democratic senators.
Told them that they needed to vote for this amendment and said it was stupid to make it hard for US employers to verify employees were legal US workers, as we have so many on unemployment.
Their leader is really making them look stupid to their own eyes.
“Or maybe it’s Mrs. Reid ~ could be she likes cheap maids,”
Or maybe it’s some Vegas hotel chain ... that likes cheap maids.
They can't vote for it unless Reid allows a vote on it. This nation was born because an imperial power did not allow us representation. Reid does the same thing with a procedural trick. He should be ashamed to imagine what our founders would think.
Ensign’s office (the other NV senator) says that Reid will allow a vote on e-verify. However, Reid’s office says that he is not going to allow any amendments. Way to keep your word ans sc**w US workers, Harry!
I got a phone call from a liberal this morning from across the country. He was quite peeved hearing on cable news that illegals will likely get 15% or more of stimulus jobs. Wait’ll he and the rest of them learn the sky is the limit for illegals anxious to receive those jobs (yep, those White House meetings with activists will definitely pay off). The *&%^& has not yet hit the fan for Harry Reid, Pelosi, et al.
Numbers USA is saying on their web site that the vote on the amendment is underway now!
