Senator John McCain says he seeks to work closely with the Obama administration on economy, despite holding vastly different views on the issue.
"These are terrible, perilous times, so I will seek ways to work with the president of the United States," the former Republican presidential nominee told Politico. "I don't want him to fail in his mission of restoring our economy."
McCain, who was among leading opposition forces in the US Senate against President Barack Obama's hefty $787 billion stimulus plan, said he would not refuse to help Obama.
McCain said he had already started collaborating with Obama and his team.
The Republican senator has revamped his legislative profile by abandoning his position as chairman of the Commerce Committee and adding three others gearing up to address health care and energy policy -- two Obama priorities.
"We are at a crucial time in America's history, the question of whether our economy will survive - I think there's a lot of common ground driven by this overwhelming issue of America's economy, which motivates me to work with the president and seek out ways that I can work with the president. Not to have them seek me out, but I seek them out and try," said McCain.
To fail or not to fail? That is the question. The sides are pretty clear: Rush Limbaugh is on one side, and Obama is on the other side.
McCain has now made his choice.
So far he has been a pain on Obama’s rear but I think he wants to be able to claim he worked with him on things too.
Press TV (Iran)? Yep, they’re credible. hahahah.
He will also be part of the reason why they will have a hard time taking advantage of Presidential blunders, defining what sets them apart from the Democrats, and even assisting them in tearing into the Republican party or marginalizing major players like Rush. He might be well intentioned, but he's essentially the enemy within.
Good, please help this nation get rid of The Mac. Thanks.
Whatever gets Juan and his ditsy daughter a few minutes of fame....
“[the Iranians are amused]”
For once, I and the Iranians have something in Common.
John McCain is a living, walking reason why the Republican party is so ineffective in opposing the Bolsheviks who control the Democrat Party. And, as with the other reasons. its all about HIM and his ego.
Besides, Obama’s hip, man...Meghan sez so. Twitter it.
Despite all the teeth-gnashing that goes on around here, I think McCain is playing Good Cop vs. Limbaugh as Bad Cop.
He’s just playing Obama’s game.
This reminds me of when Laurel first teamed up with Hardy....
RE :Hes just playing Obamas game.
Is that good or bad? Not that I trust him.
Who the heck knows. But we should judge him by his actions, and not his moderate bipartisan words.

I am in agreement with you. As long as he says he wants to make deals but never actually closes any deal he is playing a good game. In fact the further they get before they fail closing a deal, the better. Maybe that is what you meant by ‘Obama’s game’ , claiming he wants to work together for the TV cameras only. I know others get upset every time he says he wasnt to work with democrats.
Isn’t that the same game Obama always plays, rather used to play, I think he’s given up now.
Always talking about bipartisanship, and reaching across the aisle.
Yes and Republicans have to learn how to look pained and upset and concerned that democrats were not interested in a deal. They need to look sincere, but always up the ante if a deal comes near(which it wont.)
Jeez. Any more help and the stock market would be in the negatives. How about naming names on that PIG of a budget Sen. McCain.
Did you see that South Park, in which that was the case?
Hmm. I think the problem there, is that most conservatives don’t have much faith that their representatives will actually do the right thing.
Of course they’re right, because they rarely do the right thing.
Interesting problem.
You are right again. Usually I get in 5 arguments a day but today was cake. What’s your bet for the stock market tomorrow? More Obama false hope(rally)? Or back to Obama Peoples Republic(dive)?
Today’s rally was pretty solid.
I’m starting to get hopeful.
Infact, I was very upbeat about 5 hrs ago, when the market closed.
Now, I’m getting nervous about putting money back in.
