Moscow shrinks from selling Beijing the warplanes it needs for its future aircraft carriers after China manufactures 'fake' Russian fighters.
BIGTIME LMFAO!
China bought some Su-27 family fighters, then bought some kits for domestic assembly, and then surprise!, they started producing a Chinese manufactured Su-27 variant. That plus the reverse engineering of a helicopter engine has the Russians pretty chapped.
Screw ‘em. They did it with our B-29, with the jet engines the Brits sold them, and countless other “advances” they claim to have “invented”. (The AK-47, for instance, despite what the russophiles claim)
As well it should. It was the Russians who did the engineering, concept tested, refinement, and final production specifications. Chinese productions have long been based on theft of IP from others who did the heavy lifting.
They should know, Russian Engineering has always been copying the work of someone else. Pretty cost effective, little or no development costs.
Now the ChiComs are Russian Engineering the Russians equipment. I thought things like the AK47 were free from patents.
There is a certain humor in this.
SU - 27 Chinenski Fighter!
Rooskies got some of their own medicine.
If Putin did not see this coming, he is as dumb as a rock.
I thought he had insurance plan against this. I guess I overestimated him.
Or SU - 27 Kitaiskii Fighter
The AK isn’t a direct copy of anything. It’s more a fusion of existing weapons at the time, simplified as much as possible and engineered for peasant assembly.
It isn’t the first or last time that such has been done, and some examples of this are actually still in the US arsenal today - the Remington 700/M24, for example, is basically a Mauser 98 redesigned for easier assembly.
The AK isn’t a direct copy of the StG, but it’s obvious where the basic weapon came from. Pretty much all bolt action rifles today have their roots in the 98 Mauser.
Wikipedia says it best:
The AK-47 is best described as a hybrid of previous rifle technology innovations: the double locking lugs and unlocking raceway of the M1 Garand/M1 carbine, the trigger and safety mechanism of the John Browning designed Remington Model 8 rifle, and the gas system and layout of the StG44. Kalashnikov’s team had access to all of these weapons and had no need to “reinvent the wheel”, though he denied that his design was based on the German Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifle. Kalashnikov himself observed: “A lot of [Soviet Army soldiers] ask me how one can become a constructor, and how new weaponry is designed. These are very difficult questions. Each designer seems to have his own paths, his own successes and failures. But one thing is clear: before attempting to create something new, it is vital to have a good appreciation of everything that already exists in this field. I myself have had many experiences confirming this to be so.”
Also, just FYI, the ultimate evolution of the original AK line is sitting nearby as I type this. :D
Translation from the original Russian: I ripped off the StG.
What would you expect Kalashnikov to say? BTW, Hugo Schmeisser, one of the designers of the StG (and a lot of other stuff) was held as a prisoner at the same factory where Kalishnikov “designed” the AK. The StG and the AK are far from identical, and the AK is actually an improvement, but the parentage is obvious.
BTW: What’s the “ultimate” AK? And where can I get one? My milled receiver Bulgarian is pretty nice, but I’m always looking to upgrade.
LOL. Now the joke is on them.
The ultimate AK is the Saiga 12, IMHO.
It renders the perennial problem of the AK platform, inaccuracy, completely irrelevant by being a shotgun. :D
Also, the point is that Kalashnikov ripped off Garand and Browning almost as much as he did Schmeisser.
When you rip off one person’s design, it’s called “theft.”
When you rip off multiple persons’ designs and produce one new design from them, it’s called “genius.” :P
