what most survival stories fail to suggest: get in shape!
No kidding. How many people die of heart attacks when hunting because it is the only time they get any exercise all year? I was sent to an aviation survival school. I hadn't been in a swimming pool for 20 years. Swimming in boots, a flight suit and helmet was right at my level of fitness. I was thankful that I didn't have to do more.
I noticed that, too. Being physically fit must be important to survival, too, but these types of articles rarely mention it.
(I was fit all my life, until just recently, now I'm out of shape, and that has been my biggest worry. Two years ago, I could've run and beaten the crowds to the food, if necessary. But now that I may need to...) :-(
