So, I'm too embarrassed to post this under my usual name, so I'm using this name. I was out trying to shoot gopher today...I know, it's stupid, but I'm so fed up, and I saw one of those little b@stards starting to poke through. I grabbed the shortbarrel shotgun and went to get it, but while creeping up on it, I hit the tigger. The spray didn't hit me directly, but it shot at the big rock I was standing on, and ricocheted back and hit my ankle. Stung pretty badly. I walked back to the house and sure enough there are two round bleeding wounds on my ankle. I felt around but can't find any shot anywhere. I don't know if it was the pellets that hit me, or some bits of granite off the rock. My ankle feels okay...still stings, and and hour and a half later.
Just thought I would get some freeper advice. Should I be concerned about this or just clean it up and ignore it? Thanks!
Those are all good qualities, I will definitely have to check into the breed. Thanks! :)
just mistakenly touched it
Ya, this stings. It bled some, but it’s not affecting mobility of anything. I’m walking around fine. At first I thought maybe that it was some rock chards that had hit my leg because it did’t hurt much, but I’m think that in all likelihood its probably some pellets.
Thanks...and thanks for the serious answer. Lots of (deserved) sarcasm here tonight.
You might want to get it x-rayed, just to make sure that there’s no shot in the wounds.
I used to shoot competatively, and while shooting bowling pins with reloads, it wasn’t unusual to get hit by riccochets coming back off the pins if the bullets were moving at less than about 700fps. Faster bullets would penetrate the hard plastic and embed in the pins. But slower bullets would sometimes come back at you.
They hurt, and would leave a nasty welt and bruise, but weren’t moving fast enough to break the skin.

Willie: Yeah, I know what you mean. You know, the other day, I took one o’ them, uh—?
Frankie: Meat thermometers?
Willie: Yeah! And I just shoved it into my ear, you know? As far as it could go, you know? But then I took one o’ them, uh—?
Frankie: Ball-peen hammers?
Willie: Right. And just whacked it a few times right in there, you know.
Frankie: Boy, that must smart.
Willie: I know! I HATE when THAT happens.
...aparently
This may sound painful, but pour boric acid or some sort of cyanide solution in the wound. It reacts with the lead, and actually draws out the pellets, if they are in there. Then, drink the rest of the bottle.
Another idea is to cut the end of an extension cord, plug it in, and stick one wire in the first wound, and the second (and third, if applicable) in the other wound. This will ZOT the offending material out of the skin.

Assault gophers. SWAT teams take 'em out on sight, usually with an HK.
Your trying to sneak up on an animal, RULE #1 FINGER OFF TRIGGER. But then you know that already.
short barrel shotgun — what were you trying to do, spray the entire neighborhood?
Good Try!
Get tweezers, put a lighter to the tips. Go digging. Then put some alcohol on it and wrap it up.
Any problems two days from now, go see a doc.
ROFLMAO!!!!
BTW ... the site administrator(s) know exactly who you are, if you do indeed have another screenname.
Safe from UFOs and Henry Waxman, then, lol.
He SAID his finger was on the tigger...
Which I think....is Winnie the Pooh's buddy...
