TV Warnings About Victim Disarmament Zones
Big Hollywood ^ | Sunday, March 8, 2009 | John R. Lott, Jr.

The season finale of “Burn Notice,” entitled “Lesser Evil,” involves Michael Weston (Jeffrey Donovan) trying to keep both himself and Madeline Weston, his mom (Sharon Gless), safe from some angry spies. Madeline and Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell) are surrounded by those bad spies and Madeline makes what to many may seem like an obvious suggestion.

Madeline Weston: Should I call the police?

Sam Axe: No, that would make it way too easy for them. Cops take us to the station — they know where we are and they know that we are unarmed.

The segment reminded me of an even even more politically incorrect show: “The Rifleman.” The episode entitled “The Anvil Chorus” aired on December 17, 1962, and is summarized this way: . . .

Burn Notice is the most awesome tv show on today. Michael Weston’s mom keeps a 12gauge (Remington 870) I think for home protection.

"Burn Notice is the most awesome tv show on today."

I agree. My wife and I are avid watchers. Sickened as I am at the very sight of that scuz Janine Garafalo, and the recent Global Warming bootlicking done by Kiefer Sutherland, I have little enthusiasm left for 24. Burn Notice really doesn't push politics, much and as such is a lot of fun to watch.

I love it. Can’t wait for the season to come out on DVD. Supposedly the release is set for June 16th.

“Burn Notice” (Fe)
“NCIS” (Ziva)

The only good shows via the boob tube.

South Texas = Spring Break + 4WD = better than TV

I won’t quit till they lay me 6’ under.

Burn Notice used to have a much better sound track the first year. Does anyone know what happened to it or even what it was called? (possible that it was only used for trailers, clips etc.)

Thanks.

Fi’s a winner. “Can we shoot them?”

Love Fi.

I love Burn Notice!

One of its stars, Bruce Campbell, lives in this area, and he’s supposedly way cool when it comes to saying “hi” to him at the store or whatever.

He’s done a couple of talks and book signings in the area that were well-attended.

As far as 24, I was an avid watcher, and even though I heard that this season was one of the best ever, I haven’t watched a bit of it this time ‘round.

Garofolo makes me sick to my stomach...and I refuse to give scum like her any Nielsen points.

Madeline Weston: Should I call the police?

Sam Axe: No, that would make it way too easy for them. Cops take us to the station — they know where we are and they know that we are unarmed.

Sharon Gless's not looking too bad these days, unlike her former partner.

Back on topic: got a sticker on my truck: "my neighbors don't support the 2nd amendment and are unarmed, so to respect their wishes I promise not to use mine to help them.

USA has a number of pretty good shows...”Monk”, “Psych”, “In Plain Sight” and of course, “Burn Notice”.

Monk is another good one. I never “got” the advertisements for it and so never watched it during the first few seasons. Then I gave it a try and was hooked. It’s a very humorous and clever show.

What’s not to love?.....Micheal’s mom always has a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, Sam is always is always looking for an excuse to drink, if he is not already drinking, Fi loves things that go boom and Michael is cool and pretty easy on the eyes. So glad they got rid of Carla, she just irritated me.....

Has anyone seen “Leverage” on TNT (I think). I haven’t seen all the episodes but what I’ve seen, it’s catchy. The original premise - man works for insurance company and when his dying son needs treatment that is still in experimental stages, mean evil insurance company won’t cover it, so he dies - kind of turned me off at first, but when they avoid that, it’s a good show.

Agree on 24. One of the worst things has been the cheating on the "real time" theme, like in the first episode where they kidnapped the scientist-went to a station break-and when the came back he had already been taken to their headquarters and built the device...all in 5 minutes.

There have been several events like that in the series this season. Besides I am tired of looking at Gargoylfalo. Think I'll watch the Closer instead. It's a pretty good series.
