The TAX LIST Grows...

Posted on 03/08/2009 9:11:19 AM PDT by jessduntno

The TAX LIST is still growing. So far, we have the following 150 Taxes that are in common use (
some are a little bit quirky, but Google them and see- they really do exist and are in common use) and as more than one FReeper has observed, it would make a great display for a Tea Party Banner.
A list of taxes (still in progress) paid by American citizens who are Employed, Small Business Owners and Self Employed. Please feel free to add to the list;

In Arizona, the sales tax is actually called the Transaction Privilege Tax. You can’t make this kind of nonsense up.

In CA, the home of fruits, nuts and flakes (Post cereal), the unemployment division of the government is called the "Equalization Board." Marx would be proud.

I look at the telephone taxes & kind of snicker. Originally sold as temporary, to pay for the Spanish American War.

Sales tax (county)
Stadium tax (5 SE Wisc counties)
Use tax (sales tax on some interstate transactions)

when I get propane delivered I get a “hazmat fee of $3.95” per delivery. It’s just proof that companies don’t pay taxes - the consumer pays ALL of them.

Accounts Receivable Tax

Not to diminish the point of your post, but I don't pay an accounts receivable tax.

How can you pay taxes on monies not yet received? That should go into next quarter estimates or next years earnings depending on when tha actual payment is received.

Am I missing something?

Ever notice the additional fees you are charged when you get an oil change for your car?

I actually had a Board Member (and I use the term member advisedly) show up on our doorstep once "just to look around" and collect a $5.51 fee.

In Ohio we have a “Commercial Activity Tax” — basically a sale tax on professional services.
