Great news: Obama fumbled Brown visit because he’s in over his head (The Messiah)
Hot Air ^ | March 7, 2009 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 03/07/2009 2:06:46 PM PST by GOPGuide

After insulting Gordon Brown during the British prime minister’s visit this week by ignoring protocol and cheaping out on the traditional gift exchange, the UK media has erupted in outrage.

The Obama White House has now started to recognize the firestorm the new President created with our closest ally, and wants to assure the Brits that he meant no disrespect. Instead, Obama apparently wants to assure them that he’s simply in over his head and floundering (via Radio Equalizer):

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister. …

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president’s surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama’s inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to “even fake an interest in foreign policy”. …

The American source said: “Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.

“That was the gamble these guys made at the front end of this presidency and I think they’re finding it a hard thing to do everything.”

I’m not sure which is worse. At least if he meant to snub Brown, it would suggest a certain competence at this brand of diplomacy. Instead, we’re told that the Obama White House and their staff are just a bunch of incompetents who got in over their heads. Which is, of course, the point we made continuously over the last two years.

“Has he ever had a job in the private sector?”

Has he ever acknowledged that there is a private sector?

Hey, have the Democrats ever acknowledged that there is a private sector? I don’t think they believe in it.

"Nothing would do but the U.S. had to elect 0. Now they have him and they're outraged?"

Sometimes the Brits don't get it quite right. They once had a chap who gushed "Peace in our time" before all holy hell broke loose.

“the UK media has erupted in outrage.”

I didn’t think the UK media ever got that excited.

The Presidency is his just and due reward for all those arduous years of campaigning:

The irony is that the advisers/media were tauting his experience in the fall before the election. His experience: 2 years of running for the presidency.

[Check the archives. That is exactly what some of the advisers/media were claiming as Obama's experience.]

Agreed. I guess what Obama would say if he was being totally honest is “I meant to snub the Brits, because they are white colonialists, and told the diplomatic corps so, except for why I wanted to snub the Brits, since a lot of my government is white too, but it was a mistake to snub the Brits, brought on by being in over my head, and really, I am just partying too much and staying up too late, so that I didn’t really think this one through.”

cannot find an underling fluent in Russian.

Even worse, she can't find an underling fluent in Russian in the State Department!

“Did you catch the part where it say Obama is “surprised at the amount of business that crosses his desk”.”

I honestly don’t think Obama has wanted to perform the functions of any of the offices he has held. He just likes running, and adopting the trappings of those offices. Makes him feel good.

They do have a lot to learn. Presidents and their close associates do not comment on the President's weary appearance, or about all the stress and strain. The president is always portrayed as up to any demand of the office. Helps when the next election rolls around.

“I’m sure the drive-by’s will not cover this.”

The drive-by’s need to find honest work, even though it’s a tough job market. We should help push them in that direction.

"... he picked the buffoon Biden which is no help at all on any front..."

... except one: let's call it "removal insurance." For largely the same reason why the Senate declined to convict the Big Impeached He.

Biden would be less destructive than Obama.

Biden doesn’t think “He’s The One”. He isn’t on a mission to “change the world” into his image.

Doesn't that sound just ever-so-slightly like little Georgie Step-in-awful-stuff?

I just don't buy it

I remember reading a weekly reader article 40 years ago about how long the president's day was & all he had to do in a day. Even 10 year olds know the president has a tough job.

If BOzo didn't know what he's life was going to be like, he's dumber than a box of rocks

Going to the gym, looking at yourself in the mirror, playing basketball, and partying every Wednesday night sure can wear a person out. Then, having a staff that is more focused on demonizing Rush Limbaugh than taking care of the country’s business, leads to gaffes and additional lapses in judgment.

Believe me, if I were to meet Rush, I would tell him the same thing.

Rulsh is using rich sarcasm to depict Zero as the False Messiah. No way is he genuinely referring to Zero as the real Messiah.
