The Bush Admin and Senator McCain warned repeatedly about Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and what thus became the 2008 financial crisis -- starting in 2002 (and actually even earlier -- in the Clinton and Carter White Houses. Democrats resisted and kept to their party line, extending loans to people who couldn't afford them -- just like you would expect of socialists.

Simple answer. The regulation bill never left committee There were 19 members of the banking committee. 10 Republicans voted for legislation, and 9 Democrats voted against. As 60 percent vote is needed to bring the bill to the floor of the House, it never left committee.

And, they immediately shut up about it afterward. HOw do you defend that.

It is heartening that I’m not alone in blaming Bush, the RINOs and the demrats for the mess we’re in today.

For a while there it seemed like I was voice in the wilderness. Despite a WOT that has gone on way too long, despite Bush’s pro-illegal alien stand, despite out-of-control gov’t spending, despite being a punching bag for the dems, despite his unbounded embracement of global warming, despite, despite, despite—I continue to be amazed at Pubbies who idolize former president “W”.

In the end, the only thing he may have gotten right was his USSC picks. But, IMO, they have not really been tested yet. I suspect the real test will be the challenge to The Marxist Onada’s eligibility for the presidency. If they don’t take that one on then we will know Bush even screwed that up.

Hey, I think he’s a nice man without any taint of political corruption. I think he believed in the globilization nonesense and he truly believed that making instant citizens out of a bunch of illegals—most of whom eshewed citizenship in the first place—was somehow good for Americans. He may even have been persuaded that global warming—if it really is happening—is somehow manmade.

We all hoped that Bush II had learned from his father’s mistakes. But he went right down the same road. The more I think about it, I’m convinced that both Bush’s were demrat stealth presidents. Certainly what they actually did in office would indicate they favored demrat socialist policies rather than conservative principles. In retrospect, I do not even give Bush credit for doing anything more than any president would have done in the aftermath of 9/11. And what was with Bush I’s relationship, after he left office, with the Clintoon? I remember them appearing in some ads for one cause or another.

Raybbr—Be of good cheer. You are not alone in your conclusions. A few months ago I felt just like you—a lone voice in the wilderness of bushbots. But, it appears that our analysis of the situation is finally gaining traction.

Looking down the road the most necessary, but difficult, thing to do is get conservatives to realize that the GOP has been coopted by demrats.

If conservatives want to regain a place at the political table they must create a new political party. Hoping the demrats will allow the RINOs controlling the GOP to cede power to conservatives is an unrealistic expectation. Worse, it delays getting on with the business of creating a new Constitutionalist Party.

OOOOHHH—The MSM would not cover the story. And Frank and Dodd did not listen. So you’re telling me that the President of the US could not get around, over and/or through those “obstacles”.

That’s pathetic. Truly pathetic.

RE “For a while there it seemed like I was voice in the wilderness.

I am with you as are many other Freepers.

I was a solid believer early on but by the 2006 election disaster I woke up.
For a long time we were told, “We have to repeat this story, if you don't you are helping the democrats”. But we knew the lame talking points were not selling and couldnt sell. Now with two election disasters resulting, continuing the lie is counter-productive,

Certain talk radio hosts built up this “Warrior Prince” fantasy that still remains in a number of brainwashed believers. I got bad news for them. Bush worked with democrats to destroy the economy and the Leading Military power. Bush is as responsible as them. That fact that YOU think he had GOOD motives and democrats bad motives (as Levin says) only means something to YOU! Maybe democrats really believe socialism is good for us like Bush thought destroying capitalism was required to save capitalism.

RE “Well, enjoy Barack Obama.
I am at the end of my rope with right wing Bush Derangement Syndrome IDIOTS around here.

You misunderstand. We hold Bush and his booklickers in contempt BECAUSE they gave us Obama and a mandate for socialism and contempt of capitialism. Like Schiff said the other day: “Obama is out-Bushing Bush but trying to pin the as conservative Laissez-faire label on him, which he never was. Unfortunately the cheerleaders of the phony Bush prosperity are now trying to criticize Obama and they really can’t do it because they look like fools. That’s the same problem the republican congress is having when they try to criticize Obama. Where was the criticism (by Republican congress) when Bush was doing the exact same thing? It wasn’t anywhere.”

RE :”I am at the end of my rope with right wing Bush Derangement Syndrome IDIOTS around here. We had 52 straight months of GDP growth under W.

LOL My idea of growth is when my 401K and house is higher in value than before. What kind of growth is this? We are trillions in the hole, houses and 401K dropping like rocks that's growth?

Democrats had good reason to screw up the economy to give them two elections. Our problem is we had a fool in the White House who played into their hands, taking credit for a booming economy ( telling us to buy more) just before a huge bust.

***We had 52 straight months of GDP growth under W.***

Drug addicts feel really really good when they’re high. That doesn’t mean the basis for their pleasure is sound, sustainable, or healthy.

If you measure real GDP from 1933 (when Roosevelt took office) to 1940, you’ll find a growth rate of over 60%. That of course ignores a lot of background information about the time. All of that “growth” was actually recovery to 1929 (in terms of real GNP per capita) levels, but if you just look at the numbers, it would seem that Roosevelt did quite well.

In reality though all his policies did was stifle and suppress recovery take the economy back into negative growth from ‘37-’38.

The fundamentals of the economy were not good under Bush. That isn’t to say it’s all (or even mostly) his fault, but he shares blame.

Instead of warning us the house was on fire Bush told us to climb higher to the attic to see a better view. Now Bush lovers are blaming Barney Frank for starting the fire and telling us that Bush warned Barney fires are dangerous....

But since Bush was only on TV telling us to climb higher its sort of obvious he set conservatives up to take the blame
.

To make matters worse Bush was playing with matches too (he promoted poor minority bad credit home ownership ). But he warned Barney Frank fires were dangerous.

RE :” Typical gutless response. Call in the bullies on a massive swarming mission.

LOL. I think MNSlim is asking me to call you bullies in for another swarming mission. His classic comment that deserved recognition was :

”I am at the end of my rope with right wing Bush Derangement Syndrome IDIOTS around here. We had 52 straight months of GDP growth under W.”

Now why would a comment like this bring him any attention?

My reply was ” My idea of growth is when my 401K and house is higher in value than before. What kind of growth is this? We are trillions in the hole, houses and 401K dropping like rocks. That's what you call growth?”
