(snip)...Christen's application included her membership in several charitable groups, including some from her past, but did not mention that she was on the board of Planned Parenthood in the mid-1990s. The organization, which didn't provide abortions in Alaska until 2003, is now on the opposite side of a Palin-supported bill to require girls under 17 to get parental consent for an abortion. (snip)

Duplicate thread and a dubious source to say the least.

ADN quotes AFC who has no support for their statement.

Not a completely accurate story, she chose the most conservative of the two choices she had, the other option, Smith, was far to the left of Christen. It is also not really determined if Christen was pro-choice. Lots of research on this thread.

Does Alaska have nukes? Maybe we could all move there and could get protected from the USSA.

If this is true as written, it is very bad news for her.

Sorry
The ADN is THE local rag and the story matchs other data out on the local outlets.

I did search, no joy.

What would have been the magic phrase to find the early post?

You want to do some interesting research, first, ask yourself why the ‘pro life’ group who leveled these charges would promote Smith who is further to the left on the issue? Take a gander at the network solutions whois data for their website, specifically the owner, then google his name.. Can’t prove anything for sure (I started a thread on this earlier then asked it to be removed until I found more info), his name comes up with some very ‘interesting’ groups.

Something stinks about this whole thing.

Under the state Constitution, Palin had to select from among the nominees sent to her by the seven-member Alaska Judicial Council, made up of lawyers, public members appointed by governors and the Supreme Court chief justice, currently Dana Fabe.

With this bunch picking her choices, what is to be expected?

The Gov IS NOT forced to follow the recommendations.

Her predecessor, Fat Frank (Murkowski, Lisa's Daddy), chose from the list, rejecting the ‘recommendation.

So, really, really, she had other choices. What she actively chose to do was to not use that option.

The point is she had a larger list than just the two.

She could have asked for additional names - there is presedent.

And, ya, courts here are pretty liberal.

Everything I am reading requires her to choose from that list per the law, and like I pointed out, it is still in question if she is actually pro-choice.. the connection this group makes is very lose as when Christen was on the board they where NOT an abortion promoting group in the State.

Also, why would the so-called pro life group who is leveling these charges promote the more pro-abortion candidate Smith?

Something is very fishy about these stories.. all of the charges originate with this one pro-life group who was pimping for Smith. Why?

It is the law there, in Alaska the Judicial Council considers 6 candidates and then narrows it down to 2. These two are then submitted to the Governor where one has to be chosen. The Governor is not permitted any other choices. (Governor Murkowski tried to throw it back to the Judicial Council and he was rebuffed.)
