Education Secretary Arne Duncan said Wednesday that poor children getting vouchers to attend private schools in the District of Columbia should be allowed to stay there, putting the Obama administration at odds with Democrats trying to end the program.
Duncan opposes vouchers, he said in an interview with The Associated Press. But he said Washington is a special case, and kids already in private schools on the public dime should be allowed to continue.
"I don't think it makes sense to take kids out of a school where they're happy and safe and satisfied and learning," Duncan told said. "I think those kids need to stay in their school."

I guess the kids in Atlanta and NYC aren’t worth as much as the kids in Washington D.C.
These days I have to keep reminding myself that I don’t swear...
Wow it really is all about him!!!
I do swear. Now more than ever over this fraud in the WH and ‘rats in control...
That and the fact the his children’s schoolmates put out a public ad begging the president allow them to stay in their school. Can’t you see the publicity? Those without the money cannot attend his daughters’ school? If this president and his handlers know anything, it’s the value of publicity—both positive and negative.
Why not? What Democrat has ever met a government give-away that they didn't like? Plus if the government is paying the tuition then they can start dictating the curriculum.
Oh yeah! We already did that!
The Dems will toss this into a Bill loaded with pork, and Bambi will sign it no matter what his Sec. of Education recommends.
“I don’t think it makes sense to take kids out of a school where they’re happy and safe and satisfied and learning,” Duncan told said. “I think those kids need to stay in their school.”
But we can’t have more of that!
“”I don’t think it makes sense to take kids out of a school where they’re happy and safe and satisfied and learning,” Duncan told said. “I think those kids need to stay in their school.””
DUH!!!
There’s a bit more to this that’s not being reported. We have friends with children at Sidwell Friends where Obama’s girls attend. They claim his girls’ best friends attend via the voucher program. So there’s probably been a “Daddy, don’t make my friends leave school” conversation, tears and all.
Vouchers are anti Union/NEA thought control, Dems will never support them.

Unless, of course, it’s a home school.
Right? You hipocritic bag of sewage.
Washington is a special case...because it has sooooo many Obama voters? That what you’re trying to say, Duncan?
Vouchers do work ... it would make the public schools put forth a better service for their customers.
