Minnesotaâ's own Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance is back on the job at the Capitol. This year, we are seeing a number of very dangerous bills proposed. Second Amendment rights, American liberties, are very much at risk. Metrocrats ( Urban Liberal anti gun democrats) control both the MN House and the MN Senate. They have done their best to stack committees to pass legislation that will harass law-abiding gun owners, sometimes turning them into criminals. So far we have two items to report to you. One needs your action this week. This Week Paymar's Gun Owners Criminalization Legislation
This Friday HF953 (Chief author - Paymar) will be heard in the Crime Victims/Criminal Records Division committee a division of Public Safety Policy and Oversight. Members of this committee are Chair: John Lesch (DFL) 651-296-4224 rep.john.lesch@house.mn

the usual Metrocrat Dims at it again
Talking points to use ... The individual right of spelled out in the second amendment is now settled law. The Second Amendment is an enumerated right of an individual to own weapons, and as such, infringement is subject to a much higher bar than are rights that were arrived at by other means, like abortion.
The liberals like neither point, which is just TS time for them.
thanks. I am composing a letter today to fax and email soon.
Two very strong 2nd amendment supporters, Rep. Cornish & Murdock, proposed an amendment to a Budget Balancing bill required to keep State government in the black that prohibited the state from spending any funds on a state run gun registry. The amendment was very simple. It stated;
“None of these funds may be used to create or maintain a list of firearms owners in the State of Minnesota.”
The amendment failed. This means that a majority of the House members favored allowing state funding of a registry of Minnesota gun owners.
I have zero intention of registering any of my firearms. Period.
“... There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one MAKES them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. ......just pass the the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted — and you create a nation of law-breakers — and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”- p.411, Ayn Rand, ATLAS SHRUGGED, Signet Books, NY, 1957 “...
“A mans natural rights are his own, against the whole world; and any infringement of them is equally a crime, whether committed by one man, or by millions; whether committed by one man, calling himself a robber, (or any other name indicating his true character,) or by millions, calling themselves a government.” Lysander Spooner, No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority (1867)
“Gun control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.” L. Neil Smith
“Those who sell their liberty for security are understandable, if pitiable, creatures. Those who sell the liberty of others for wealth, power, or even a moments respite, deserve only the end of a rope... Americas historic misfortune is that her people have seldom been equal to the ideals upon which their nation was established. “ L. Neil Smith, The American Zone (2001)
“Never forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldnt let him do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians.” Aaron Zelman and L. Neil Smith, Hope (2001)
Every man, woman, and responsible child has an unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional, and human right to obtain, own, and carry, openly or concealed, any weapon — rifle, shotgun, handgun, machinegun, anything — any time, any place, without asking anyone’s permission. - L. Neil Smith. The Atlanta Declaration
HF953 terminates any and all private sales of firearms. All transfers must be run through a FFL dealer. Dealer transfer fees will add anywhere from $20 to $100 to the cost of firearms ownership. Residence of cities such as Minneapolis and St. Paul will have to travel out of the city to make any transfers.
HF953 allows police chiefs and county sheriffs to charge whatever they can justify plus $5 for a MN firearms transfer permit. In Minneapolis and St Paul this may well be in the hundreds of dollars depending on the level of investigation. This change is nothing less than a poll tax to exercise your constitutional right to keep and bear arms. This continues the redundant background check that every purchaser of a firearm must go through at the federal level for free!
Wouldn’t withstand a court challenge.
and T-Paw will veto.
I not as sanguine as you are on that score. Tim is hardly the staunch conservative Constitutionalist he should be.
he’s not. but he has been solid on the 2nd A.
Depends on how much of a veto majority this would have then...
yes, he did. I was there when he signed it.
Thank you for giving me some hope that this will not actually pass at least while this governor is in office.
I’m faxing them all, nonetheless.
Thankfully I live in Ky and have no gun grabbers threatening me. But I can’t imagine registering my guns even if such an unconstitutional law were passed.
Hearing Postponed Indefinitely for Minnesota Gun Registration Bill Due to Overwhelming Member Opposition, Committee Pulls HF 953 from Calendar.
Late last night, House File 953, introduced by State Representative Michael Paymar (DFL-64B), was removed from the schedule of the House Crime Victims/Criminal Records Division Committee. Though the bill will not be heard on Friday, it is not dead, as another committee could bring it up in the future.

cool . thanks.
Looks like it’ll be one of those dead of the night, cloakroom bills.
Lets hope not, it currently has 14 authors which isn't a whole lot of support but we should keep an eye on it.
Maybe you already know about this but if you go here: MyBills Subscription Services You can sign up for an account (free) and it will track any bill and send you email alerts when there is any action. I have used it for the last few years and am pretty impressed.
To keep you bills list current, you have to search for new bills almost weekly but it will allow you to search by subject and gives you a brief description so you don't have to read the whole thing.
