Nickelodeon Broadcasts Cartoon Homage to 'Dear Leader' Obama

Does anyone here recall Nickelodeon presenting a cartoon homage to President George W. Bush? No? Of course not. "Wrong" politics. However, if you think your very young children are safe from being exposed to subtle political brainwashing while watching Nick Jr., which presents Nickelodeon cartoons for children 5 and under, you would be wrong. Check out this poetic cartoon homage to Barack Obama currently running on Nick Jr.. Here is what your young ones will hear:

Nickelodeon celebrates President Barack Obama and some of his favorite things.

Barack Obama is the first African-American to be President. That is what's called a historic event.

Leading a country is no easy task. So what does he do to relax you may ask?

Nickelodeon is the only channel that my kids were allowed to watch. I started realizing a while ago that there were more and more shows that I would have to tell them they couldn’t watch. I can’t believe the shows that this “KIDS” channel has. Needless to say, my kids spend more time playing outside and doing there school work now.

This is no shock. My kids are almost grown, so I had not seen Saturday morning cartoons for years. While working out one Saturday about a month ago I skimmed through some of what passed for Saturday morning entertainment. It was all global warming, save the whales eco-nonsense.

My guess is that this brainwashing has been going on for years and its no surprise stupid American youth support the current socialist regime.

There was 100 times the intellectual value in Looney Tunes, the Jetsons, or the original Johnny Quest.

SpongeBob is okay since that cartoon is irreverent towards everything. I learned about SpongeBob from my nephew. Actually a lot of FUn to watch.

Nick has been salivating over Obama. I saw some of it (I have kids) and I could only think there was NO WAY they would be doing this if McCain had won.

I just remember “That’s my Bush!”

The truth is the producers, Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park, would have done the same for Al Gore. The series was planned before the election and would satirize whoever won. They thought Gore was going to win so the initial title was "Everybody Loves Al." The whole Florida fiasco actually halted production because the schedule counted on knowing who won on election day.

Matt and Trey, equal opportunity offenders. I can't wait to see how they treat the idolization of Obama.

My boys (20 & 16) watch, and have on DVD, the first season Sponge Bobs. I will watch with them. They are funny. They say the follow on seasons are “gay.” I’m not sure exactly how, but it might mean they have veered to the left.

My kiddo changes the channel.

My oldest likes to say "Obama! Obama! Obama!". He didn't get it from me, or Mrs WBill (we both agreed not to push our politics - which are very different - on the kids). Didn't happen from any of the immediate family, either, because my family is all conservative, and I quietly silenced any political crap from the in-laws side.

Kids ought to be kids, IMHO. There will be plenty of time for politics (whether I agree with them or not) when they grow up.

I conclude that WBill Jr. picked it up from the TV, somewhere. Dunno where, as we're in the room with him whenever the TV is on - but I'd sure like to find out.

My wife pointed out those when we were in Target every day. I’d like to believe that enterprising capitalists are making fortune off of his image but more often than not it’s pushed by left wing media and educational establishments.

Of course, the rectangular, pink, stale piece of gum that comes with those trading cards is arguably more qualified than Zerobama to lead a nation.

Well, to be fair there, they (they being the two South Park creators) had initially planned a “Everybody Loves Al”, on the assumption of a Gore win. It would’ve been just as crude as the Bush series turned out to be.

Don’t have a source handy, but I have heard a line attributed to Parker and Stone that goes like “I may hate conservatives, but I REALLY hate liberals.”

We got rid of our TV just after Baby Chan was born. I haven't missed it. He watches video shows via internet now: Lazy Town (made in Iceland, of all places) and a Japanese show called Inai Inai Baa! (which means "Peek-a-boo", more or less)..

NOTE: He watches ONLY when sitting in my lap, and ONLY shows with healthy cultural messages. While I have nothing against people based upon skin color alone, we carefully control the cultural influences to which we allow our child to be exposed ( basically European and Japanese only ). Multiculturalism is not a strength at Chez Chan: Lazy Town has two "black" puppets and one "Asian" puppet, but culturally they're all European, and all the human actors are white. Inai Inai Baa! has (of course) an all-Japanese cast and cultural context. Both shows are educational, have positive messages (basically "eat fruit, exercise, sing, dance, count, learn shapes, clean up your own messes") and are tons of fun to watch; my wife and I often catch ourselves singing the songs from the shows while driving, doing chores, etc.

Referring to this, possibly? http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/2005-01-22-kids-video_x.htm

I’m usually for the AFA, but that one seems a bit of a stretch.

March 11 starts the new season of South Park. And you know those two will have something to say about the Big O.

When he gets a little older you might consider getting some of the DVDs by Hayao Miyazaki. “My Neighbor Totoro” is a good one for the littler kids. Actually, I love all of them. “Porco Rosso” is really an adult movie, one of my all-time favorites. But they’re all certainly worth a look.

The only buried politics in his anime movies are that he’s a committed environmentalist, but I honestly don’t find his particular take on that troubling. Maybe “Princess Mononoke” is a bit over the top, but I still like it.

Screw Nickleodeon.

When I want to watch some toons, I'll pop in a DVD of Bullwinkle & Rocky, Bugs & Daffy or Futurama. Nickleodeon will never be an option in my house.

LOL thanks for the advice! I work in the anime biz, and believe me, Totoro, Jiji and Porco Rosso (among other Miyazaki characters) are well-known to Baby Chan. He even goes along to anime conventions with us!

He likes Wan Wan from Inai Inai Baa! best, though...
