WHITTIER, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol says three men hijacked a truck hauling energy-efficient light bulbs and left the driver tied up on the side of the road.
CHP Officer Joe Zizi says the hijacking happened early Wednesday in Whittier, about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Maybe a terroist is goimg to release all of the mercury!!!!!
They did it wrong. Buy (er steal in this case) incandescent light bulbs, then can sell them on eBay when the ban takes effect. Many outlets don’t work right with CFLs, like dimmers, so there will be a demand for good old fashioned that can’t be filled in a few years.
Major demand.
Have anyone actually used these crap CFL bulbs? They suck big time. Work poorly in the cold, which is going to really disappoint the alarmists.
If LEDs come in time they will be great, but if not, we’re screwed.
Tony Soprano lives!
or screwed in.
Blame Gorebull Warming
Have you tried these CFL crap bulbs out? I bought a few and they are really bad.
We are all having to live with the kind of government the active socialists voted for;the biggest bloc of Americans is the "I don't bother to vote ,they're all the same, they'll never do "X" here, etc." who by refusing to participate in politics, ensure that the worst possible people will gain office.
I’d check places like the Environmental Defense Fund headquarters. Prolly have the loot.
I’ve used them and they are crap. The color rendering is horrible. When I recently remodeled my bathroom I switched to halogen, they can be used with dimmers, are economical and give off a nice bright white light.
Don't count on that. If eBay's past actions are any indication, they will ban incandescent bulbs, just like they have banned guns and ammunition, and a whole lot of other desirable stuff.
why does this just make me laugh. I like it. Drive to an edge of a cliff overlooking people homes like Susan Sarandon’s and dump.
The color rendering of the CFLs is really bad. Your eyes have been tuned to sunlight. To some extent, LEDs suffer the same problem, it's why incandescent flash lights work best for S&R work. LEDs don't yet have the sunlight spectrum down for the mass market.
I bought some for 25 cents each from FoodMaxx a month ago or so.
Two 2-packs for a buck. They work fine, and the price was right.
PG&E subsidizes them
For anyone who hasn’t taken a look at the suggested clean up methods for these horrible bulbs that they are planning to make us use...

And from Energystar.com:
Q: Are there any Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs) manufactured in the US?
A: No, there are not currently any CFLs manufactured in the US.
(What’s a few thousand more jobs shipped overseas anyway? And who cares if you are one of those ‘silly fools’ who still likes to ‘Buy American’ - they plan to force you to use these things anyway.)
Add to this the fact that in many states (CA included) disposing of these bulbs in regular trash is illegal. They need to be packaged, handled, and disposed of as ‘universal waste’.
There are currently studies underway looking in to the effects of increased mercury levels due to improper disposal of these bulbs - the first 2 generations of CFLs are dying now and making there way, mercury and all, to a land-fill near you.
Have a nice day.
The crooks were not very smart. They should have stolen a truck load of incandescent light bulbs. They would have been much more valuable.
From another article, this appears to be an organized heist.
California Highway Patrol Officer Joe Zizi said the driver had just picked up his cargo early Wednesday when he was forced over to the right shoulder by two other heavy trucks.
Three men got out of the trucks and took the driver’s big rig by force, binding his legs and leaving him on the road’s shoulder.
Shortly after 1 a.m., the CHP began receiving 911 calls about “a man bound by his legs limping on the right shoulder” of the freeway.
