Compare that list to this list:

That explains some of the unexpected Republicans votes against McCain’s amendment. They were bought and paid for.

"There was hope for this amendment."

Are you delusional?

You'll have to share the evidence that convinced you of that.

What POSSIBLE hope was there to restrain spending -- when the Democrats have ONLY that as their platform to consolidate power, destroy incentive to work, evaporate the middle class's savings and reward their welfare dependent electorate?

Obama and his Thugs are focused on one objective -- Power, Socialism, Nationalized Means of Production......

Looks like it. Good for him for trying.

But not much good. Any given RINO seems to be trying when he or she suppors one good measure or another, but you can count on the rest of the RINOs to help defeat it. How many successful conservative efforts have the RINOs been behind?

Since it only takes a couple of RINO Senators to pass the liberal agenda, they can play rope-a-dope forever. For any given liberal bill, 2 RINOs can support it, the others can be against. Cycling the YES votes around the group can give each an 80% or so ACU record, and they still guarantee that the liberal agenda passes.

So, I'm supporting a one-strike-rule for RINOs now.

Excuse you! There are no stupid questions. I thought I was having a discussion with someone who had mutual respect, rather than juvenile, reactionary thought. Guess I was wrong.

I am always open to learning. If I am wrong about something I will reconsider and change where needed, rather than be so invested in being right. Truth matters as do my conservative values.

Excuse you! There are no stupid questions.

In the "politically correct" world there are no stupid questions... In the real world there are plenty of stupid questions, and when someone is backed into a corner is when they usually come out...

You want to fight crime, don't you? You want to lower spending, don't you? You want lower taxes, don't you? You want to save lives, don't you? We should do it for the children, shouldn't we?

Sorry, I don't play P.C.

And harking back to the original thread... McCain is no government waste crusader, he lost all credibility on the issue with the TARP bailouts, and he has helped the other side immensely in the years of wasteful "bipartisan" spending that has driven our country to it knees!

I agree.

A lot of these highway projects, etc cost millions more than what they should because of the federal funding.

Look at the ‘Big Dig’. Billions spent over two decades, and it was obsolete before the first car drove through the tunnel.

Getting back to what I was saying about the fire departments though. A lot of these small volunteer departments do not have the resources to raise enough cash to buy new equipment especially something like a new ladder truck which costs about one million a pop excluding tools and equipment. The state provides some money for such purchases, but that never covers the full difference between what the community and the department can raise and the cost of the truck itself.

In the words of Ronald Reagan, “Trust, but verify”. I know those words were spoken in reference to the former Soviet Union. However, given the climate today within our own country and the attempts being made to destroy our nation from within, we must employ these words against our own institutions.
