I can’t speak for all women, obviously, and maybe I am just getting old, but there aren’t a lot of lookers in this current crop.

Then there is this whole phenomenon of looking completely different when the helmet comes off (I’m talking to you, Ryan Getlaf).

Henrik Lundqvist is my current fave, but he’s Swedish, not Canadian. Plus, I still have a raging crush on Tony Amonte.

There should be an NHL draft category for looks. It only takes a few lookers to keep women occupied. Those teen girls who follow Crosby are happy to sigh at him simultanously by the thousands. Pittsburgh is lucky to have had so many good looking stars. Lemieux and Jagr both had good looks IMO although Jagr was a grade A jerk.

Henrik Lundqvist is certainly good looking and right at the moment I wish the Pens would trade Fleury for him.

LMAO!! Yeah, but the kids being drafted are so young that at 33 I feel like a dirty old lady!

I think all women recognize a good looking guy and when you quit looking, you’re dead. But I know what you mean. The players don’t really seem like men to me until they get way past draft age.

Hockey players beware. They want your wallet. Nothing more, nothing less.

Years ago, contracting for a company in Maryland, I used to frequent Caps games with an associate from work. We would leave the game and head over to the local bar (Farnsworth’s) and grab a few beers before heading home. At that time, in our mid to late 20s and physically fit, in street clothes, each of us could have been mistaken for hockey players. On the ice? not a chance ;-).

Each time we walked into that bar (the players, themselves frequented the place after games), we were greeted by young ladies sitting at the bar, primping and preening. On virtually every occasion, I would walk up to the bar and a young lady would ask me if I was a hockey player. The little devil on my shoulder was always urging me on, but I always told them ‘no’. Of course, that would quickly end the conversation as they spun back around on their barstools to watch for the next young male to walk through the door.

Hockey players and scandals? You bet. That was during the same general timeframe that Scott Stevens, Dino Cicarelli, Geoff Courtnall and Neil Sheehy were accused of raping a 17-year old girl in a Georgetown bar.

I’m not sure of the particular participants in that photo, but there are some good videos on that website. I always enjoy a good, clean, well-contested skirmish, especially late season, playoffs, or round 2 types (i.e. Probert v. Domi).

This is nothing new. The Pittsburgh Penguins have a huge female fan base with giant numbers of female teenagers goo-goo eyed over Sid Crosby. I’m sure other teams are marketing in the same way. Hockey is a natural for women.

Unfortunately for them, Crosby wouldn't be interested. I doubt girls are his chosen demographic...

I remember a "Fan Poll" in an issue of Hockey Digest back in the early 1990s. Female readers were asked to submit their lists of the best-looking and ugliest players in the NHL at the time.

Oddly enough, Jaromir Jagr was actually among the top ten on both lists.
