All Steele needed to say was that Rush does what he does and does not speak in an official capacity for the RNC. Period. This schism is not helping us.

“To the extent that my remarks helped the Democrats in Washington to take the focus, even for one minute, off of their irresponsible expansion of government, I truly apologize,” Steele said late Monday.”
— -— —
That’s not an apology for Limbaugh’s remarks.

Steele is sorry.
And he apologizes too.
Do the party a huge favor, and resign.

Now he needs to apologize for not calling Hughley an idiot about his nazi germany comments.
To: HighWheeler
Let me re-state that correctly:

Americans are going to want to strike back at this Socialist BS in 2010. It sure looks like we aren’t going to be able to use the GOP to do it. I think we need an American or Conservative Party.

Us? You're erroneously equating Republicanism with Conservatism. They are not one and the same.

All Michael Steele and the RNC care about is M O N E Y and P O W E R, that is why the pseudo apology. Michael Steele's attacking Rush and telling people exactly what they really think of Rush and conservatives was a mistake. They realized TOO LATE that they are going to lose a lot of MONEY because we are not going to want to give to the very people who are selling us down the river and actually want Obama and his policies to succeed.
Sadly, conservatives are being betrayed by the very people who want us to support them and give them our money, time and talent.

I’d call it an ‘illumination’ that needs to stay lit.

Get rid of Steele.
He’s NOT a conservative.
This “apology” was only because of POLITICAL PRESSURE.
Don’t buy it. He’s another RHINO!

My statement was meant in a broader context, of course. I concur that more than half of the GOP in Congress could not tell you who W.F. Buckley, Herbert Spencer, Russell Kirk, Leo Strauss, Edmund Burke, Richard Weaver, Alexis deTocqueville, Dos Passos, etc are.

As soon as I read he was weak on the second amendment I knew Steele was a RINO. He was only chosen because he was black. How superficial!
How about they choose someone on TRIED AND TRUE REAGAN CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES???
To: Free ThinkerNY
Michael after reading this column I have one piece of advice for you. Resign.

Rush has got to be loving this. Man o man but he knows how to work the crowd. Look at how much mileage he’s gotten out of the “hope Obama fails” comment. The man is a master of promotion. They can’t stop talking about him. The guy earns his money.

Rush took Steele to the woodshed and blistered him and said what needed to be said!! True conservatives are not RINO,s!! We have enough of them already, and its ruining the party! I guess he got his feelings hurt!!

Why would Michael want to work with a bunch of Nazi, anyway?
Hang it up, Michael, before you completely embarass yourself.

Steele also added "if anyone's
feelings were hurt..."
FEELINGS HURT??? WHAT ARE WE 9??? HE JUST DOESN'T GET IT!
I've written and called and told my local GOP leadership to take me off their list for $ and precinct walking.
I AM A CONSERVATIVE FIRST.
...and they can blame Steele for drawing the line in the sand.

Steeles #1 job is fund raising. He should be fired if he’s not smart enough to realize this kind of comment is diametrically opposed to his job.
