Some lawmakers declaring state sovereignty to protest stimulus

For small-government die-hards, the $787 billion economic stimulus bill recently passed by Congress isn't a life saver. It's the last straw.

Lawmakers across the country are sponsoring resolutions — most of them only symbolic — asserting state sovereignty, in effect the right to ignore any federal law or policies they deem unconstitutional, including the stimulus bill, the No Child Left Behind Act and any new assault rifle ban. (snip) "This has been a progression from (the New Deal) days to today, with the only break being Ronald Reagan," South Carolina state Rep. Michael Pitts said by e-mail. Pitts, a Republican, has a resolution pending in the South Carolina House. "The stimulus bill is simply propellant for the resistance."

So the states will resist peacefully but what happens when Praetor Charles Schumer sends in the Federal troops like he’s hinting he will? Will the good guys stand their ground or cave to Emperor Obama?

Constitutional Lawyer?

“When you think about this claim that if a state believes a federal law is unconstitutional it can just ignore it, then I presume if a county believed a state law was unconstitutional it could just ignore it,” Hesse said. “Really what’s implicit in this is an unwillingness to recognize a lawful authority.”

The US Constitution specifically states that powers not enumerated belong to the States or to the People.

It’s up to the State Constitution to determine what the role of county government is. We recognize lawful authority. And we recognize unlawful authority too!

The ultimate unit of sovereignty is the family.

A propellant for resistance is right.

“Praetor Charles Schumer sends in the Federal troops like he’s hinting he will? “

Against an entire State? Against our legislatures? He can try it and watch the response. Attack my statehouse and watch the fireworks.

There does seem to be a growing consensus that you're right. It's all over the internet blogs, You Tube comments, etc. I think the govt. underestimates millions of Americans that are afraid and angry. Losing your 401 K isn't the same as losing your country. Scary times.

We are going to have to fight.

The sooner we all awaken to that fact the better the chance of winning.

“A propellant for resistance is right.”

I always thought the propellant was smokeless powder, or maybe gun powder.

I think trigger might have been a better word, but the word propellant gives leftists the jitters doesn’t? We should use psy ops at every opportunity against these lefties.

If this continues, it could develop into the United States splitting into two, or more, separate nations.

The federal troops all come from states. Will see how many end up sticking with Senator Schumer.

I really think that Hussien and the elitists in DC are overreaching. This will continue. Some think that they are doing this on purpose. I think that they are ego-driven POS that have no concept of how people think outside the beltway.

I think that in a short time a few governors will tell the feds to pound salt after the feds try to do something like take away our 1st or 2nd Amend. rights or try to nullify the state’s consistutions regarding gay marriage....or if it finally comes out that Hussien is NOT qualified to be POTUS. When a handful of states tell the feds to got to hell, watch the resistance jump everywhere else.
