Local-option tax idea resurfaces(stick it to Maine again!)

BAR HARBOR, Maine — The idea didn’t get far two years ago — or in its previous incarnations — but the concept of allowing municipalities to adopt local-option taxes is going back to the Legislature again.

Rep. Elsie Flemings of Bar Harbor is working on a bill that would let Maine towns and cities impose an additional sales tax within their borders. Flemings said last week that the proposed bill is in draft form and has not yet been assigned a formal bill number for the Legislature to consider.

Like Bar Harbor needs more tax revenue...

I was raised on MDI and love it there. It’s a shame what the liberal retards have done to the legislative processes.

As far as the exodus goes, I live in southern Maine now. My wife and I are putting the house on the market in the spring, and planning a move to NH next summer or fall.

The day that we leave, I’m paying to take out a full-page ad in the Portland Sunday paper, explaing why liberal idiocy has driven a 5th-generation Maine native to move his business and residence out of the state he was born in.

Good Lord, don't even entertain the idea- ours went from 3% to 7%, with no end in sight. For the children, ya know.( The other lyin' idea foisted off on the voters was "Lotto will pay for the schools." So a cynic must ask, why the SPLOSTS? )
