In a sign that the world may be coming to an end, the head of the Republican party says he wants a mic check. Word? Word.
Michael Steele, the head of Republican National Committee, wants his party to become the Grand Ol' Hip-Hop Party. Respect.
The new head of the party, and the first African-American to ever fill his chair, wants to spin an "off the hook" public relations blitz into "urban-suburban hip-hop settings" in hopes of getting young Latinos, African-Americans and others down with the good beats to rep the elephant and to rep him hard, son.
"We need to uptick our image with everyone, including one-armed midgets," he said during a recent media blitz where he announced the idea with a joke. He was serious about the idea. He was joking about the one-armed midget part.
Steele told the Washington Times that the party needs a complete makeover the appeals to young voters. A key demographic that they lost out on during the last election,.
"We missed the mark in the past, which is why we are in the crapper now," he said. "We need messengers to really capture that region - young, Hispanic, black, a cross-section. We want to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party that stands on principles. But we want to apply them to urban-suburban hip-hop settings."

And conservatives.
yes, but like I stated, theyve (many if not most, but not all obviously) have been brainwashed to believe that republicans hate black people, when its just the opposite. democrats have kept many socially conservative blacks feeling like they should depend on government.
this is what we will begin to see with the larger country with universal healthcare and a lot of the things 0bama is doing. once universal healthcare goes through, there may not be any coming back from that.
After about 15 seconds of listening to rap crap or hip slop I begin to have homicidal urges. I’ll just play it safe and stay in my swamp, with my guns and religion.
Ok Mikey. Does this mean you might FINALLY start to "get your thug on" when it comes to the dems????
If I ever do meet Mike in this life, I would LOVE to approach him, and if there was going to be a "handshake", I'd "start" to act like I was going to shake his hand, and at the last second "fist-bump" him instead and IMMEDIATELY wait for him to copy my next move:
If he acts confused, surprised or stunned, I'd simply tell him that is the SAME feeling I had when I read about his totally stupid "hip-hop strategy" for the first time.
Oh...one more thing Mikey....you're "new attitude" going to need a "new hat".....
I am thinking we are the RINOS. There may be no saving or returning the party to conservative. I Changed to Independent. I am waiting for a replacement party.
The electoral math becomes very difficult at that point.
Shirley, you meant, impossible.
Anyone listen to John Gibson on Fox. Or, John Gibson on Fox Sirius Satellite Radio? He has been doing a what’s bad about hip hop or the hip hop crowd, for over a year IIRC. He is on about the same time as Mark Levin so I haven’t listened for a while.
It’s not hard. Simply run candidates who are conservative in principle and can articulate themselves. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they “speak well” or look good in front of a camera, though those things don’t hurt.
“This might be true but there is an opportunity there, it seems to me. A significant part of the black community appears to be socially conservative, religious, in favor of border enforcement. A very good communication and outreach effort by the GOP could peel these black voters away from the Democrats.”
With Obama in there these efforts are a waste of time. Just like every other position won by an african american, it immediately becomes a “black seat” and all independent thoughts are left at the “race card check” window. Only pure rassists will attempt to run for the “black seat” Look at urban centers like Atlanta, Philapelphia, Baltmordor, Washington DC, Birmingham, Oakland, etc., The absolute decay, crime, drugs, and economic decline has yet to lead to a republican taking over and instituting real problem solving solutions. And these issues have been occuring for 40 years.
None of this will matter, folks.
If 0bama stays on course the Republicans will be hog-tied with a citizenry so in debt, so entreched in socialism that the conservative platform WILL BE IRRELEVANT.
If you’re confused about what they are doing—there’s your answer.
The option for freedom and capitalism, as we have known it, will be off the table.
We are being brought to our knees for a kind of “change” none of us can imagine right now.
There is no other explanation for this “self-sabotage”.
Prosperity CERTAINLY ISN’T their goal.
Once they lock-in this socialism it isn’t going away, sorry.
If you think socialist Social Security has staying power—consider National Health Care.
Do you think Republicans will ever be able to cut THAT program? Not on your life!
OR, the One-world government folks will be proven prophetic.
True socialism, global rule, or both—those are pretty much our choices if nothing stops this leftist onslaught.
It’s time to get radical or watch it rot.
Then Mr. Steele, ACT LIKE IT! Hip-Hop culture is not about principles, family, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. First reach out and lift up our fellow Americans who are in pursuit of happiness. Not those in pursuit of murder, drugs, random sex. You are not going to find conservatives or Republicans among them. Unfortunately we won't be able to persuade these folks or enough of them to make a voting difference. To stop this destruction of urban America we need to put conservative leaders into those communities to help the next generation.
Here is where the conservatives and patriots among us must stop and consider the matter seriously. The democrat party has created a whole block of constituencies with Inter-GENERATIONAL dependency. How'd they do that? And how do we break their cycle?
Think about it for a moment. Inter-generational dependency. What that means is the government dependent grandma, mother, and children have learned to live locked in the cycle of democratic poverty. They have learned to live on the government handouts inter-generationally. First grandma who maybe knew better and knew she had choices but instead became a democrat victim, she then taught her daughter to live like that, who is now teaching her children how to live within the system...they truly may not know how to get out of the democrat poverty system.
The schools have taught them they are victims of society. The victimology makes them inferior. The schools teach the collectivism, these particular kids need to know there is another way. It is simply not being taught to them.
We can break this cycle if we can get to the children. How can we get to the children without throwing more good money after bad? We need to knock down the socialist school doors. We, as concerned members of the society, need to stop being the church mouse, but become the mouse that roared. We need to get in there and teach them this is America and you have choices that lead to success.
Success is not college, college is just another stepping stone and not all who attend college are a success. We need to teach them, show them how to succeed by pursuing their own path to excellence.
An liberal will not vote GOP until they grow up and educate themselves. As long as the DEMS support them (until our country’s credit runs out), they will vote for DEMS. Words will not do it.
Replacement party.......think how we got Bill Clinton. The liberals love that idea. It is the classic divide and conquer. We have to be smarter than that. We are not going to EVER have a party that is 100% what we want, especially as conservatives. We are independent and self sufficient. We are not like democrats who will blindly follow some dude that pulls our chain for one reason or another. We are Republicans and Conservatives cannot have an organization like the Democrats do. It goes totally against our nature. We have to have our own organization and there we need to find a way to make it work for all of us.
My son and his wife worked very hard and saved for a number of years in order to own a small business. This past weekend they made a decision.
If these tax increases to through they will work each year until they clear 200K and at that point they will lay off their 5 employees and close up shop for the rest of the year. They said that if America is going to die, it is not going to be them that gives Obama the ammunition to do it. He is not going to kill America on their dime.
This sickens me. I recently withdrew a pledged donation to the RNC after listening to Steele on CNN trashing Rush. Here is the text of an email I sent the RNC yesterday:
I’m sorry but I am withdrawing my pledge and will not donate a single dime to the RNC until you can assure me that no funds will be remitted to Specter, Snowe, and Collins. Because of them, my children will suffer an unconscionable burden of debt in support of a liberal social agenda. Until the RNC denounces them, I cannot support you. Moreover, Steele also needs to understand that his disparaging comments on CNN towards Rush Limbaugh are personally insulting to Conservatives like myself. If the RNC wakes up and embraces Rush’s views, which I support, and denounces the RINO’s, I will consider reinstating future pledges. Until then, please REMOVE me from your mailing list and cease soliciting contributions from me. Based on the views I’ve read and seen espoused by Chairman Steele, I consider myself a CONSERVATIVE. not a Republican.
I have been saying that for 30 years. Look where it got me. I will not fall for the good cop bad cop scam again. I want a revolutionary party that does not have to pander to “groups” of idiots. One that stands for freedom and people join if they want. I was a RINO not them.
Will someone please educate me and explain how a person becomes the head of the Republican National Committee?
Does someone pick him?
Is he elected?
Thank you.
Oh yes, who did the picking/electing whatever this time?
Thank you again.
“Is this what we really need?”
No. This is what they (Socialist/Democrats) need.
The Socialist/Democrats must be quietly rejoicing as the Republican Party moves further towards oblivion.
Apparently electing Michael Steele as the leader of the Republican Party was the kiss-of-death for that Party.
Apparently electing Michael Steele as the leader of the Republican Party is key to the movement towards a Conservative third Party that will provide the Socialist/Democrats ruling majority for generations to come.
With a Third Party we will not only have to sell Conservative ideas and principles, but a new Political Party as well. The selling of the ideas isn’t as difficult as selling the label of a new Party (the block on the ballot to mark), especially during a time of dubious “change” that promotes suspicion of everyone in the Political theater.
Steele was a bad choice from a Conservative perspective.
Wondering if that is what is the intent.
