President Obamas budget director said the White House would consider using a Senate procedural tactic so that only 50 votes would be rquired to pass major healthcare and energy reforms.
Peter Orszag, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, said the administration would prefer not to use the budget reconciliation process to push through its package. But he added: "We have to keep everything on the table. We want to get these.... important things done this year." Orszag called healthcare in particular "the key to our fiscal future."

This means he’s afraid he doesn’t have enough Democrat support to overcome a potential filibuster.
What a moron jerk.
What do they think will happen next year I wonder?
He’s like the schoolyard bully. I won, so take that!
I HATE his evil more and more each day.
Isn’t Marxism great? The voters sure screwed the pooch in November. The voters have proven that they are not as smart as the Obamedia keeps telling us they are.
The typical American voter might start awaking from the trance
Time to preemptively start going after those democrats who are on the fence and whose reelection is at risk if they got too far to the left. The democrats have used the tactic of ‘divide and conquer’ effectively for years. It's time we did the same.
If the republicans had done this the media would have called it “the nuclear option” or something similar. I think we need to come up with a snappy nane for thes.
The genocidal option
The final solution
The Chavez gambit
Isn’t a majority required, ie. 51 votes in a 100-person body? Or does he have to cheat at every opportunity? Why does the Senate have a rule like that?

Because they can not be filibustered, budget reconciliations only require 50 votes to pass the Senate.

This clown is even worse than what was originally feared.
No the MSM, TV news media and newspapers will keep pushing for Obama. He is the Tiger Woods of the White House as Tiger loves the guy too. Same media fawning over both of them.
There are fewer than 60 Democrats in the Senate. What he's not sure of is obtaining 60 votes in favor. It was easy to get 60 votes in favor of porkulus and the omnibus spending bill, just coopt 2 of the 5 or 6 reliable left-wing GOP Senators.
Well, this is going to be rich...Obama’s going to order Harry Reid around on which Senate rules to follow and which ones to chuck. And I seem to remember that Reid and his Rats screamed bloody murder when Republicans wanted to use simple majority votes back in the day.
For legislation, majority of votes cast. 50 is usually enough in the Senate. It is certainly enough while Minnesota has seated only one of the two seats it is entitled to.
