I watched it. He didn’t really “repudiate” Limbaugh, he merely said he didn’t want Obama to fail, but argued against his policies. Let’s get real, folks, an elected politician isn’t going to say he wants Obama to fail publicly, even if he believes. That’s just politics. It’s the reality of politics.

So is it possible the Cantor is distinguishing himself separate from Conservatives?

Cantor was fine. The only thing this video did was show—once again—what a dreadful partisan hack stephanoplace is.

When did you stop beating your wife, Congressman Cantor?

I do wish that the Republicans would memorize a few lines from Rush’s speech and be prepared to use them as appropriate:

“President Obama is one of the most gifted politicians, one of the most gifted men that I have ever witnessed. He has extraordinary talents. He has communication skills that hardly anyone can surpass. No, seriously. No, no, I’m being very serious about this. It just breaks my heart that he does not use these extraordinary talents and gifts to motivate and inspire the American people to be the best they can be. He’s doing just the opposite. And it’s a shame. [Applause] President Obama has the ability — he has the ability to inspire excellence in people’s pursuits.”

While I don’t agree with Rush 100%, and have had trouble with him when he “carried water”, he’s the only one out there really getting the conservative message across.

It’s time for Rush to step up and become more visible.

Carey, you've been around this forum for a long time and should have learned some politeness and protocol by now.

I see your posts are almost exclusively videos. It would help that if you have a slam against a conservative (such as Cantor) you would point it out in your opening blurb, what was said, and at what point in the video it was said.

Some people don't have time to watch your ever-ongoing array of videos. Especially if they are long or not what you claim they say.

Is there some FR Academy Award for "Lifetime Achievement for Most Prolific Hit-and-Run Video Poster" that I'm unaware of?

Leni

It’s difficult to be conservative and have to take flak from both Democrats and Republicans.

I watched this clip, as well as the one of Steele posted earlier. I also watched Rush’s CPAC speech, in it’s entirety.

I believe that what we are witnessing is a battle for the soul of the GOP. On one side, we have the big government “inclusive” types, such as McCain, Specter, Collins, Snowe, Graham (and apparently Steele and Cantor), who believe that government provides the answers to problems, if only we have the “right” people in charge. Their objective is to gain power, so that “right” people can rule. In order to gain power, they’re willing to compromise.

On the other side we have Rush and other “Reagan Republicans” who see the government not as the solution, but as the problem. These conservatives see government in the Jeffersonian sense, as a necessary evil, necessary to protect what IS important - individual rights.

It’s the federalists versus the anti-federalists all over again.

Admittedly, this is an oversimplification of the split, but not by much.

Personally, I stand squarely with the latter group, and I see no reason to join with the former group in order to gain political power. I don’t want the “right” people to rule my life. I want to rule my own life.

I don’t want to take the slow road to socialism that the statist Republicans offer as their alternative to the fast road presented by the Democrats. I don’t want socialism period. I agree wholeheartedly with Rush. Bipartisanship, in the common vernacular, is capitulation. Screw that. I will not compromise my conservative principles period.

Until and unless the latter group wins the battle for the soul of the party the GOP will simply remain Democrat lite. If the latter group loses the battle, then, IMHO, it’s time for a new conservative party.

Cantor doesn’t represent Conservatism. Cantor represents the old neocon agenda. Cantor doesn’t represent America’s best interests.

Who put “this headline is a lie”? Cantor wimped out in front of Stephie. The evidence is on video.
