I am pretty sure I found Rush in the late 80s by leaving the radio on after Paul finished.

We lost a giant. But I am pretty sure the legacy of his show is in the good hands of his son.

R.I.P. - This feels like a loss in in family.

American classic and treasure. The most distinctive voice in broadcasting. He will be missed.

He had a great influence on baby boomers.

During my senior year in high school (1967-68 if you are curious) a group of us would go to a “billiard parlor” (pool hall) for lunch every noon. We always made sure we were out and on the way back to school in time to listen to Paul Harvey.

Very tough last 48 hours here in Chicago. Lost 2 Bulls greats on Thursday.

Who were they?

RIP, Paul.

Yes. Once in awhile Harvey would misspeak.

I enjoyed browsing the articles here http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/paulharvey/index

He raised ire once stating Islam is a Religion of Peace.

But... Paul Harvey was a great spokesman for decency and common sense.

Memory of Paul Harvey:

We lived out in the country and my dad drove me to school every day (in his pick up...no car for my dad!). We listened to Paul Harvey on that ride every single day. I still remember thinking he was pretty interesting and kind of funny. I hadn't thought of that until now...

Rest well, Mr. Harvey.

I used to work in a nursing home and now at a hospital and I've seen a few people take their last breath. Especially at the nursing home, I've witnessed what has got to be the dying seeing angels or something.

I remember one woman who was pretty much quiet but toward the end suddenly reached up with one arm and said "Pull me over, please, I'm ready. Please pull me over."

And when my dad was in his final moments and his eyes were just slits as he would take a breath every 10 seconds, his eyes opened wider and he looked to his left and it was obvious he saw somebody or something. His look was not one of fear. About a half a minute later, he breathed his last.

Some people would say that that is just hallucinations from lack of air. But I have worked with the demented who saw all sorts of things year after year and the actions of seeing something of the near dying are different.

RIP Paul Harvey, a great American.

And to the Freeper who just lost his mother, my condolences and prayers that God comforts you and your family at this sad time.

Good day, Mr Harvey, may you rest in peace.

My grandparents listened to him every day when they ate lunch.
Fond memories of lunch with them while listening.
