Lavish bash marks Mugabe's 85th birthday, he vows land grabs will continue

CHINHOYI, Zimbabwe (AP) - The president of Zimbabwe is vowing that land seizures in his country will continue. And he's calling for the last of Zimbabwe's white farmers to leave. He says, "They have no place there."

Robert Mugabe was addressing supporters at a celebration marking his 85th birthday.

The bash reportedly cost $250,000. It came as the African country's new unity government tries to raise money to rescue Zimbabwe's collapsed economy.

The inflation rate in that country is setting new records by the day.

Personally, I suspect that it’s a lot more even now than it was a couple of years ago simply because the value of stocks and real estate has plummetted in the last year. Take today as the base line and see if Obama improves on it.
