Via Snapped Shot and STACLU comes news that Iowa state officials have banned the use of tea by Tea Party protesters holding an event tomorrow in Cedar Rapids.
The tea violates environmental standards because it will discolor the water:
A Cedar Rapids group will do a symbolic tea dumping into the Cedar River on Saturday because state officials won’t let them use the real thing.
An anti-tax group wanted to pitch in real tea like the Bostonian revolutionaries opposed to England’s tea taxes.
Tea, although natural and quite tasty, is considered a pollutant that can’t go into a body of water without a permit, said Mike Wade, a senior environmental specialist at the DNR’s Manchester field office.
“Discoloration is considered a violation,” Wade said. What would our Founding Fathers say?
Where would we be today as a country if the EPA was alive back in the 1700’s?
I guess this means that the redcoats will be out in force. Dump away, patriots! The troops of our new king wouldn’t dare start another Boston(esque) Massacre. Or would they?

Putting tea into water creates a “pollutant”. Can you think of anything more symbolic of our over-regulated society than this absurdity? Do these geniuses realize that they’re saying pouring tea down the drain is pollution? Or maybe they do believe that.

I’m seriously considering walking down to the dam and dumping a whole box of tea into the river near my home.
It’s the Iowa State officials that need to be “tea bagged”.
Against Conservatives as well.
Why can’t they just do it anyway? If Rahm Emanuel can thumb his nose at us on inauguration day, we ought to be able to do the same. Nothing is going to change until people quit being so afraid!
Obeying such foolishness is what makes these “parties” an exercise in politically correct “protests.”

Threat of law suit is the standard op for liberals.
This will be a test for the protesters. Will they submit to this threat or not. There must be some creative response to this threat.
