In a news conference in Washington, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said that in a visit to Guantánamo on Monday he noted a “very conscious attempt” by guards to “conduct themselves in an appropriate way.”

What a repulsive statement. It implies that they were only doing this because Eric Holder was present and normally, being the brutal, probably white thugs that they are, the guards would be out beating the poor, sweet little Muslim terrorists - er, that would be victims - in the prison yard. He is one of Bambi's worst appointments out of a whole stack of horrible appointments.

"He is one of Bambi's worst appointments out of a whole stack of horrible appointments."

I fully agree that statement

AG Holder and his assistants flew down Monday, spent two nights there, and came back yesterday. I am quite sure that had he requested it (and perhaps he did), he could have gone anywhere on base at anytime during his stay. Regardless, he surely got the briefing, the nickle-tour, and saw that both a field-grade officer and senior NCO is present in every detention block at Gitmo 24/7, 365. But our troops operate under a far larger microscope; they get VIPs, top brass, press, lawyers, NGOs, researchers, and foreign diplomats visiting down there all the time. Our troops are doing a thankless job down there, getting slandered dozens of times a day in the media by al Qaeda's lawyers, get crap literally thrown at them by the lowest scum on earth, and remain highly discipline and professional.

For what it is worth, this old soldier salutes our troops at Gitmo. I sincerely thank them all for their tremendous service to our nation.

Probably because Holder is projecting his likely actions on the guards. That speaks volumes about Holder.
