Was there something in the water last night (perhaps Kool-aid)

Was is just me or did the entire GOP just throw in the towel last night?

From the moment Obama walked into the chamber, until the last talking head went to sleep, it seemed like the Republican party just decided to give. Up I couldn't believe my eyes or ears.

As Obama walked into the chamber I saw Republicans lunge towards the aisle, straining for to touch the leaders garment. It was a cross between Jesus entering Jerusalem and the Beatles hitting the tarmac in the US for the first time.

As Obama spoke, the Republican rose in applause multiple times - even when the One spoke with complete contradiction to conservative principles - like smaller government, less spending.

Not a single Republican "cough bullshit" when Obama spoke of creating 90% or 3.5 million jobs in the private sector and then proceed to list - cops, teachers, global warming researches and others as examples of "private sector jobs"

Following the speech it got even worse...

First, Bobby Jindal gave a lame "republican" response filled mostly with adulation of Obama and a determination to work with the new leader. There was scantly a mention of conservative principles, why they are better for liberty or how the Obama administration was destroying the fabric of what made America great.

Then it was on to a parade of Republican Senators and Congressmen who outright refused to criticize the Obama plan to change America as we know it. To provide entitlements for every Liberal constituency on the backs of taxpaying American citizens, to nationalize healthcare, to dismantle the military, to take away individual liberty and to tax us into suppression.

One glaring example was Hannity's interview of Eric Cantor. I always thought Cantor was one of the stronger conservative voices, he seem to show some bright spots over the Porkulus fight. But last night, it seemed like the Twilight Zone. Hannity gave Cantor softball after softball to knock Obama's socialist power grab out of the park - Cantor would have none of it. He just kept talking about how it's a new day, we can;t focus on the fights of the past, the Porkulus is behind us now, we need to reach across the aisle, offer solutions, etc, etc. Hannity eventually got frustrated, gave up and sent the guy on his way.

This RINO behavior is something I'd expect from McCain, Spector, Collins, etc, but Cantor? Jindal? Who's next Tom Delay?

I finally shut off the boobs on tube and went to bed, hoping it was all just a bad dream.

It was not.

This morning, I saw Judd Gregg all but apologize to Obama for not letting him down. He would not name ONE thing he disagreed with the President on, just what he agreed on. UGH!

I'm beginning to thing Eric Holder was right -- this nation (and Republican's in particular) are a bunch of cowards.

How else do you explain the tossing of not just principles, but of common sense, whenever the name Barack Obama comes up.

These people so scared of disagreeing with a black man that they are selling this country and it's taxpaying citizens down the river.

Would anyone in their right mind allow a two-bit community organizer to manage their retirement accounts?

Would you go into a war zone and allow an unpublished "editor" of the harvard Law review call the shots?

Would you trust your children's education to a guy who thinks there are 57 states?

Would you put your faith for the future in a single man who has never proven in a any arena and promises to take away your liberty?

The answer seems obvious, which is why I can't wrap my head around how otherwise sane people would put their trust in Barack Obama.

There can only be one reason -- utter fright of being called a racist.

Again, I hope last night's slobberfest was not indicative of republican opposition to Stalinism going forward -- if it is, God help America.

Phew, now I'm thirsty, where's my glass of water.

my 36” HDTV plasma showed everyone standing and clapping a number of times. especially early in the speech. and he shook just as many hands on both sides of the aisle when he walked in and out. that wasnt just courtesy to the office, imho.

Oh, puh-leez.

What do expect Republicans to do? Boo Obama as he enters the chamber? Granted, I would do that, but that doesn’t happen in politics. Hell, I remember Sheila Jackson Lee and Teddy Kennedy giving warm embraces and getting pictures taken with W. just a few years ago.

As for Jindal, yeah, the delivery sucked, but the content of his speech was very good, IMO. He called Obama out on being irresponsible and pledged to fight tax increases and government run healthcare. He also plugged domestic energy production.

I saw Gregg yesterday on Beck. He said the U.S. Census had absolutely nothing to do with him withdrawing from Commerce Secretary.

re: next four years are going to be very trying for the conservative cause

I didn't think so at the time, but I fear the next four years will be worse than the Clinton years. With Clinton it seemed like he was a fish out of water. With Obama and today's conditions I feel like I'm in the water. And it's hot as hell.

“The Republicans sat on their hands and didn’t clap many times during the speech. Anymore would have been disrespectful to the office.”

When the man elected to uphold the Constitution of the United States proceeds to piss on said Constitution, he himself has disrespected the office and thus deserves not respect, but scorn.

In my personal opinion, God's help is all we really have left.

I was truly sickened by the media’s continuing multiple Obamagasms.

Another ‘out of the park’ performance by Obama speech writer John Favreau. And O just keeps getting better at pretending there is no teleprompter to his left, and to his right. The spoken words flow masterfully - so well rehearsed it appears natural. The slightly upwards gaze to the horizon, the lighting, props Biden and Nancy-in-the-box in back, it all worked magnificently.

It’s going to be a long 4 years, so you’re going to have to pace yourself.

As to the Republican reaction to Obama in the House chamber — it’s expected by the public (excepting freepers, of course) so they do it.

Watch the next Joint Session & compare the reaction. It’ll be less positive.

Well my 50 inch plasma showed Republican representatives sitting on their hands on multiple occassions. All and all he got about as much applause from accross the aisle as Bush did. I didn't find Republicans to be fawning in their adoration, and the only people I saw rushing to shake his hands were pages and aids.

"We got 4 years of this at least."

And many more if the conservatives don't begin acting in concert. Come on, people! Let's try to get together and climb out of this hole that we find ourselves in.

Oh, we can't do that?

Because we all have our own individual ideas on what it means to be a conservative?

Because we can't work with someone who is not the correct religion, color, educational background, socio-economic status, or neighborhood?

Yup, I'm afraid so. We can't even tell the Republican Party to nominate a conservative, so how are we going to try to get together and fix the Party?

We ain't, that's how.

"I will not watch him."

Me either.

Whenever Zero comes on, which is frequent, I change the channel, or turn it off.

I sure hope my remote doesn't wear out.

"This nations entire elected class is 0ne collosal pathetic failure."

They're only a failure if you assume that they actually want to serve you.

Looking at it from their perspective, they are very successful. At providing for themselves.
