Mitt Romney backs GOP Stimulus Detractors with PAC Money
LA Times ^ | February 24, 2009 | Staff

Today, as ABC's perceptive Rick Klein notes, Romney's PAC -- Free and Strong America -- donated $1,000 each to 11 Republican congressmen targeted in a retaliatory ad campaign by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for voting against President Obama's economic stimulus bill. Romney praised the Republicans as "standing up for fiscal responsibility and saying no to spending abuse."

Romney would be the POTUS if not for the religious racists in the R party.

Yes, them and his magic underpants.

Troll House, it blows the mind, doesn't it.

They think National Review was bought off.
They think Sarah Palin was bought off.
They think Ann Coulter was bought off.
They think Sean hannity was bought off.
They think Laura Ingram was bought off.

etc, etc, etc. All bought off. All supported Mitt in the Primary.

Glad to know our party is full of so many great people, who all lack integrity. /sarc.

It’s funny your tag line champions conservatism, yet you think Romney is the next hope for this country. So a guy who is pro-abortion, pro-universal health care and pro-illegal alien defines conservatism?

Yes, that is our Marsha. She has been in the middle of the opposition since the beginning. She fought the income tax here and is fighting it well in DC. She should be one of our rising stars.

Unsurprising snide remarks about Romney, the Republican Party has become expert at eating their own.

The man donates money to House Republicans and gets slammed? Romney has his detractions, but pissing on a fund-raiser and constantly fighting the same RINO, anti-religious crap is getting old.

Keep it up and we will be a permanent minority.

Take that Romney haters!

Huh?

Myth is worth several hundred million dollars, a donation of $1000 each eleven congressman who are targeted for voting against PORKULUS is an insult.

He is a member of the party, whether you like it or not. You have the power to kick him out? I don’t think so.

Reagan would not have spit him out - he was not about knocking the party - he was about improving it. Romney is not the liberal “we’ are making him out to be, but if it makes you feel better to kick him around - continue to do so. I prefer to concentrate on what we all agree on - fiscal responsibility - and beating the D’s in 2010.

“Unsurprising snide remarks about Romney, the Republican Party has become expert at eating their own.”

Maybe because we’re sick of being force-fed a psuedo-Republican agenda! Maybe our expectations are too high. Maybe Reagan 2.0 doesn’t exist, but the options we’ve been given in the past 15+ years have been atrocious. I’m sick of being told what should define a Republican by the media and by In Name Only candidates, only to end up desparately holding my nose so hard it hurts for 3 days to pull a lever for one of these tools.

No one here thinks Romney donating money to House members is a bad thing, but his intentions deserve question as he’s not the most genuine guy on the block.

Support him all you want, but he’s no conservative and no amount of donated money makes him one.

RE “You’re right, Romney is a loyal party guy. To me, that’s the antithesis of a leader.

Right now that loyalty is important as opposition party.

But as far as Republicans ever taking the white house I have serious reservations of any candidate, including Romney. Talking to republicans I get the feeling few really understand the GWB disaster and his actions as a major contributor. There was a hero worship theme on much of talk radio that turned into circle the wagons message when things went bad. GWB courted many hosts to keep them on the party line, although it all broke down completely in 2007 with predictable election results. The myth is still out there (Hannity promoted) that GWB was the Patton of the WOT BUT a well meaning victim of congressional or democrats bad budgets. I get many pings with these Hannity messages.

Add to that the voters demand that the federal government solve every problem, take care of every need. And the fact that republicans in congress for too long become lazy corrupt power/money brokers, borrow and spend instead of tax and spend.

Opposition to the marxists is a great position for republicans, they finally look principled. But in charge?? They have not earned it after years of disaster.

"Is that Marsha ????"

LOL.. I thought you knew your Marcha was a Romneybot!

Boston, MA – Today, U.S. Cong. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) announced her endorsement of Governor Mitt Romney for President of the United States . Cong. Blackburn has served in Congress since 2003 and is a member of the Republican Study Committee.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Marsha back to our campaign to build a stronger America . As a rising conservative leader, she knows firsthand that we must bring conservative change to Washington . The only way we can do that is by returning to our core conservative principles of lowering taxes, restraining spending and streamlining government. I look forward to working with Marsha as we strengthen America through conservative change," said Governor Romney.

Announcing her support today, Cong. Blackburn said, "Tennesseans are looking for a real conservative to hold the White House in November, and I support Governor Romney as the true conservative choice for Tennessee . I was proud to support our native son in the race, but I believe that Mitt Romney is now the clear conservative choice in this contest."

““Well, the fact that Romney campaigned on a abortion rights, gay rights, illegal alien rights, universal health care, gun grabbing platform must’ve fooled the MA voters. He’s a liberal like Arnie. And Arnie didn’t work out well for California either. Never again! If Romney tries to run for president again, I swear I’m going to glue his pro-abortion, pro-liberal agenda videos and speeches to the top of every Free Republic page and thread. Especially the one where Romney (with a slick/smug/evil smile on his face) is pushing for abortion “rights” for under age girls even without parental notification as long as a judge approves it. He’s one sick puppy.””

That Jim Robinson guy seems to be pretty smart.
