This could be hilariously exploited, and perhaps dangerous in combat.

"...makes the 2nd more obsolete by the day..." Nope...just makes small unit tactics more critical. Can't dodge two bullets coming from opposite directions.

Let's see, incoming at 3000 fps from 50 yards (150 feet) away. Flight time 50 milliseconds.
Point of impact chest center, average target size 20”. Dodge distance ten inches. Dodge speed (10/12)/.05
Dodge velocity 17 fps, initial velocity 0, time .05= acceleration is 340 ft/sec^2, or about eleven G in round numbers.
This assumes 100% detection at the time of projectile launch. Any delay adds greatly to the acceleration; if the suit relies on an acoustic signal, the projectile impacts before the sound.
So if this scheme works, the subject will be exposed to an 11G BANG to dodge the bullet, assuming that the suit dodges in the correct direction.
Ouch.

Really would hate to be the live test subject on this one.
I could see this being a real funny scene in a comedy though.

Anything that can detect an incoming bullet, and move the body quicker than it takes the bullet to arrive, is likely to do as much or more damage to the body than the bullet. At ranges of a few feet to maybe twenty yards, we are talking speeds of around 1/1000 of a second. What kind of impact is necessary to move a human body quick enough to avoid that?

The armor would scan areas for incoming projectiles and when one is detected the system would deliver a shock to the muscles causing a swift reflexive action away from the projectile
Which materials when struck by a projectile do not swiftly move away from the projectile ?

What a joke. Ever wonder what the inside of your skull and your spinal column will look like after a movement to evade at 1200 fps? Two words: Federal grant. Now that Porkulus (Son of TARP) is on the move drippin in Federal dollars, we’re going to see more of this garbage as time goes on. All manner of worthless technology will be paraded before the anti-gun zealots in hopes of snaring some juicy government contract. None of it will work, but you’re still going to be required to pay for it.
