Rocket with NASA global warming satellite crashes ($280 M of taxpayers' money)

A rocket carrying a NASA satellite crashed near Antarctica after a failed launch early today, ending a $280 million mission to track global warming from space.

The Taurus XL rocket carrying the Orbiting Carbon Observatory blasted off just before 3 a.m. (Mountain time) from California's Vandenberg Air Force Base. But a preliminary investigation found that minutes later, a cover protecting the satellite during launch failed to separate from the rocket.

Colorado State University scientists were supposed to lead a project using data from the satellite to determine how carbon dioxide is absorbed by Earth, and what the effect would be on climate change if the absorption tapers off or stops.

The 986-pound satellite was to be placed into a polar orbit some 400 miles high to track carbon dioxide emissions.

The project, nine years in the making, was supposed to last two years.

Sooooo, whats the crash sites ‘carbon footprint’?

(chuckle)

Is it larger, or smaller, than Leo Dicaprio’s 25,000 square foot mansion?

Don't know which way to break:

Happy, cuz another tool of the socialist EarthLeft has been broken,

Sad, cuz this satellite might have proven there is no Global Warming.

I hope it didn’t hit any tourists on excursion boats... or polar bears and penguins.

Obama’s regime can’t even keep a domestic spy satellite in the air.

What is this “global warming”? I live in the tropics and have not had to use my air conditioner since November.

A satellite that should never have been sent up for a study that doesn’t need to be done to bolster a the totally false global warming hype, goes down. What a colossal waste of $280 Million.
