Pelosi: U.S. Must Change the Energy Marketplace @ 12:40 pm by Michael O'Brien
The United States must be a force to change the energy marketplace, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Monday.
"We must change the energy marketplace so we can save our country and our planet," Pelosi told attendees of the National Clean Energy Project Roundtable held Monday in Washington. "It is a moral, environmental and health, economic, and national security issue."
Pelosi touted Congress's work under her leadership to address environmental issues, including provisions in the most recent stimulus package, and the establishment of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.
America is at a "crossroads" when it comes to energy policy, the Speaker asserted, and said she is hopeful to set a renewable energy standard this year. Pelosi said she hoped to set a standard of 25 percent renewable energy in American supply by 2025.
The Roundtable, hosted by the liberal think tank Center for American Progress, was held at the Newseum, and included speeches from former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, and Energy Secretary Steven Chu. The meeting was chaired by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
Don’t people realize that it takes energy to power a car? Just because it’s an electric car it still takes energy to make it go.
So they don’t buy gasoline, now they plug it in to charge up. But that will make their electric bills go sky high.
And efficiencies are lost when they convert from electricity to horsepower.
“”We must change the energy marketplace so we can save our country and our planet,” Pelosi told attendees of the National Clean Energy Project Roundtable held Monday in Washington. “It is a moral, environmental and health, economic, and national security issue.””
What a maroooon...Hey, Nancy, why not stop the tearing out of hydroelectric dams....the cheapest, cleanest fuel we have! And guess who gets to pay for the breeching of the dams...Pacific Power customers.
Idiots.
The way the Dems are changing the “marketplace,” we’ll all be out of work.
I hava an idea: We could attach leather straps around large domesticated animals and have them pull us around in wheeled carts! Also we could erect tall poles an water craft and attach large fabric sheets to them to catch the wind!
The Democrats’ plan would “change the marketplace” all right, primarily by taking our economy and standard of living back to the 19th Century.
She IS certifiable
smoked carp ain’t bad, but I wouldn’t smoke it in the house, the nayhbors might turn you in
America will be invading countries that use cheap oil to produce the goods we need, while, we starve and freeze to death, in the name of saving the nation and planet.

This bitch is delusional! With these idiots behind the wheel we’ll be sitting in the dark and lighting our farts to stay warm inside of 5 years.
Pelosi has no God that would claim her.
Nah. I'll put $20 on Muammar Gaddafi and Maxine Waters.
I say she is crazy.
Are the two similar?
Oh yeah.. add deranged
She is really out there..
We will blot out the sun with windmills in the Midwest and cover the desert with acres of photo cells, we will shut down coal plants, stop new refineries and certainly not do any new drilling. As a result millions of Americans will be jobless and sitting in their darkened homes sweltering or freezing or standing in long lines for a weekly ration of $5 per gallon gasoline. Welcome to Obama’s utopia.
With gasoline priced at $10 - $15 per gal we will be standing in line.
Can't afford to waste gas driving to the gas station.
I don't have a problem and neither do millions of others. STOP MAKING A PROBLEM!!
Actually I do think that sending huge gobs of money to countries that hate us and that have cultures antithetical to our own is ridiculous. I agree that development of alternative sources of energy is a national security issue.
OTOH, there’s f’n way I want HER in charge of how this will be done.
