There's Nothing Sly About Bill O'Reilly
Pajamas Media ^ | February 22 | Christian Toto

Here’s the no-spin truth: Bill O’Reilly offers a fairer, more balanced version of the latest political headlines than MSNBC’s nighttime ideologues.

Don’t get me wrong. The Fox News commentator remains the most combustible on-air personality since Morton Downey Jr. and his ideological tilt on some topics, like limited government and coerced interrogation, would still raise eyebrows from an in-his-prime Walter Cronkite. But quietly, and with little fanfare, O’Reilly has been doing his best to not only offer both sides of key partisan debates, but also treat President Barack Obama with respect. He recently told a reporter that second-guessing the new president’s stimulus package amounted to “cheap shotting” him. And he spent copious amounts of time on his syndicated radio show saying the media shouldn’t print unconfirmed gossip about New York Senate hopeful Caroline Kennedy, and that reporters should treat her with respect.

Just don’t expect many media critics to give the talk show titan credit for his efforts. They’ve already pigeonholed him as a right-wing hack, a blowhard who doesn’t let his guests get in a word edgewise and is hopelessly biased — like the network he calls home. Arguments can be made for some of the above, but media critics rarely hold MSNBC up to the same standards. And once the critics carve a narrative in stone, they rarely reverse themselves to reflect the new reality....

> also treat President Barack Obama with respect

There's a difference between treating with respect and throwing softballs. O'Reilly doesn't know what that difference is.

O’Reilly is a real douche. The only reason I like having him around is that a lot of liberals that have no show at all (cough **Olberfuhrer** cough) hate him so much and have to go home and look at ratings that are a third of his.

Glenn Beck has won me over. Rush refers to Bill O’Reilly as “Ted Baxter” and I couldn’t agree more.

O’Reilly isn’t a true critic but more of an irritant.

It’s his way of getting peoples’ attention to what he has to say - and for his own sense of entitlement.

Still, I’ll take his irrtating mannerisms and egoism over the half baked potatoes who slither through the other news alphabets.

Ah Glen Beck - now there is my kinda news guy -

I love his homey expressions ie: ‘blood spurting out of your eyes’...

He’s a great antidote to O’Reilly.

I've noticed this....I was never crazy about him but lately he has been nothing but a hot headed pompous old windbag. No real meat in his shows just all the same old stuff and jabbering, nothing new sort of thing. I know he has it in him to blow things wide open....but he doesn't. WHERE'S THE BEEF?

The Fox News commentator remains the most combustible on-air personality since Morton Downey Jr. and his ideological tilt on some topics, like limited government and coerced interrogation, would still raise eyebrows from an in-his-prime Walter Cronkite.

Would that be the same Walter Cronkite who gave a speech at the UN, wherein he publicly advocated that the US give up "just a little bit" of its sovereignty to a world government?

If the views in his speech had ever been made public during his career, he would have lost his job to a storm of public outrage. As far as I'm concerned, Cronkite's "raised eyebrow" is worth about as much as a festering bowl of dog snot.

You know, I’m getting really, really sick and tired of donkeys like O’Reilly telling me to give “the President” a chance. No thanks. I’m sick of a twit in his mid-40’s who has never done an honest day’s work in his life lecturing me about what I should be doing and how I must behave and what the heck is wrong with ME.

Yeah, but for some reason Mark Levin doesn’t like Beck - keeps referring to him as a “back-bencher” - Geez, what did Beck ever do to Levin (don’t get me wrong - I totally love them both).

O’Reilly’s been slowly positioning himself closer to the left since before the election. He saw the writing on the wall and wants to preserve an “in.” Pretty disgusting to watch him do it.

This article is just the MSM solidifying it’s stereotypes. O’Reilly, from my perspective, plays both sides of the fece to his own advantage. Now, having said that, I enjoy the guy’s show.

As the article says, BOR is not a conservative. He is a traditionalist and can be a first class blowhard. No doubt, O’Reilly is very popular. When he strays from his traditionalist LI roots, thats when O’Reilly gets in hot water with conservatives.

O’Reilly turned the day he interviewed Obama back in September. You could see it in O’Reilly’s eyes - he had been sucked in to the black hole... It didn’t hurt that O’Reilly knew McCain was one of the worst candidates of all time.

Sorry but the O is nothing but a poorly informed and egotistical nitwit. He is so ignorant it is hard to believe. I record his show and usually get about 10 minutes worthwhile and the rest is muted or fast forward. Darn, he is such a agitating blowhard.

I can only ever think of one thing when I think of Bill O’Reilly:

loofahs
loofahs
loofahs

Not news.

Not opinion.

Loofahs.
