On todays Meet the Press, moderator David Gregory seemed surprisingly sympathetic to Rick Santellis epic, on-air denunciation of Pres. Obamas plan that would force responsible homeowners to bail out the others. In contrast, Al Hunt played the part of the predictable liberal to perfection, dismissing Santellis soliloquy as sophomoric. Gregory aired a clip of White House press secretary Robert Gibbs contemptuous comments about Santelli, including the bit in which Gibbs holds up a copy of the presidents plan and sneeringly suggests Santelli print it off and read it.
Gregory indicated he had indeed read the planthen explained why Santelli and so many others feel the way they do . . .

Al Hunt disses Santelli ping to Today show list.
Dems are in full panic mode. The wheels are coming of and they know it. Only a matter of time now....
And who says Dimocrats aren't shrewd?
AL just maneuvered himself into a lifetime supply of teabags!
I didn’t even know Hunt was still around. I am boycotting Sunday am talk shows. But Gregory ?? Some pigs just flew past my window.
Yep. There is definitely an anger growing. I’ve noticed it and heard it.
Hunt’s been relegated to the TV minor leagues of Bloomberg. Gregory has been surprisingly fair and balanced lately.
I remember Dick Gregory from my college days, more than 30 years ago. I remember marking him down in my mind as someone who is honest and sincere, though with a view of the world that for the most part differs from mine.
My impression is that he calls ‘em as he sees ‘em. I can’t remember the incident that first brought him to my attention, but I do know this: he doesn’t march in lockstep with the “black power” movement.
The only way to solve this is for the borrower and lender to rewrite their contract. That's what is in the best interest of both parties.
Uh...it's DAVID Gregory.
I was wondering why he was looking so emaciated ;-)
Well, it was sophmoric, but so what? Most of the MSM is so meek and compliant (fawning, really), you need a couple of rabble-rousers who will tell it like it is.
I’ll take your word for Gregory being f&b but I AM an elephant with a long memory of how smarmy he was to President Bush. But he is in a totally different role now, so with your imprimatur, will give him the benefit of the doubt. Still, I ain’t watchin no Sunday morning talking heads for a long time to come ... so need you now more than ever ;)
Sophomorism in the defense of liberty is no vice ;-)
My prior impression of Dick Gregory was as a liberal weasel. I think he’s cleaned up his act since he took over Meet the Press—to try to maintain that show’s evenhanded legacy. I think he will eventually revert to his old demeanor, but it may take a while.
Check out the video clip and see if it doesn’t seem that Gregory is doing more than describing Santelli’s case, that he’s actually endorsing it.
I’m with you in not watching the Sunday AM shows. For over fifty years we’ve been allowing those clowns that moderate the shows to control our political dialogue. It’s over for them. We are going AROUND them.
Am I the only person with a driving desire to smack the snot out of Hunt and stomp on his glasses?
