You might think that Cal Thomas, as a cultural conservative, would be among the least likely of pundits to call on Sarah Palin to get out of the spotlight for the time being. But Thomas did just that on Fox News Watch this evening.
The topic at hand was Greta Van Susteren’s interview of Bristol Palin, and the way the MSM focused on Bristol’s comment that abstinence “is not realistic at all.” Cal was displeased that our culture treats having a child before or after marriage as morally equivalent choices. But his call for “the Palins”—which would clearly include Sarah as well as Bristol— to get out of the limelight, seemed to go beyond the subject of out-of-wedlock childbearing.

Bristol needs to get married to Levi and give the baby his name. Period. If they don’t it’s going to continue to be an issue that liberals will rightfully use against conservatives in the next election.

I am just pointing out that you are complaining about the very thing that I am, except in reverse. You don’t want to read my whiny posts. I don’t want to hear the whiny Palin supporters for the next 4 years.
The best thing she can do to improve her chances in 2012 is drop out of the national eye and concentrate on being a good Alaska governor. If she doesn’t want to take that advice, then she is just assuring that she will not be a contender in 2012. And I’m not the only one who thinks that.
As an aside, if she really wants to be proactive, then perhaps she should consider running for the Senate. Make oil drilling her big issue, and maybe if she gets lucky, that will put her in a good position come 2012 if Obama’s no-drill policy creates another oil crisis.

That's exactly what she is doing. However, the liberal mainstream media has other plans. They want to keep her out in front so they can destroy her. I think you know how politics works, well, this is another example of that tradition. I know she isn't giving many interviews and she is keeping away from the media glare. Take for instance this article. This is about her daughter, but many critics choose to jump on Sarah's case. Another example was when the mother of Bristol's fiancée got in trouble, the media kept harping on Sarah.
