President Obama is putting the finishing touches on an ambitious first budget that seeks to cut the federal deficit in half over the next four years, primarily by raising taxes on business and the wealthy and by slashing spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, administration officials said.
In addition to tackling a deficit swollen by the $787 billion stimulus package and other efforts to ease the nation's economic crisis, the budget blueprint will press aggressively for progress on the domestic agenda Obama outlined during the presidential campaign. This would include key changes to environmental policies and a major expansion of health coverage that Obama hopes to enact later this year.
A summary of Obama's budget request for the fiscal year that begins in October will be delivered to Congress on Thursday, with the complete, multi-hundred-page document to follow in April. But Obama plans to unveil his goals for scaling back record deficits and rebuilding the nation's costly and inefficient health care system Monday, when he addresses more than 100 lawmakers and budget experts at a White House summit on restoring "fiscal responsibility" to Washington

“Obama to Unveil an Ambitious Budget Plan”
The greatest mind since Carter.
Wash Post: “...ambitious...”
Translation: So absolutely counter to anything a competent high school (obviously not a public high school) grad knows that it’s beyond simple and stupid.
Raising taxes and cutting the military. Why does this formula sound so darn familiar? /s
On top of the Porkulous... God help us all.
The article is wrong - he is planning to deliver a budget for the FY that began LAST october.
While I don’t like it, it doesn’t SOUND as radical as I was expecting. Though this is the comPOST trying to spin the presentation of the plan. The details should be infuriating I am sure.
$2 Trillion this year and $1 Trillion in 2010 and 2011. But only $563 Billion in 2012 or is that 2013. They left out a year. Let’s see that is at least $4.56 Trillion in just four years.
Didn’t Obama blast the Bush Administration for doubling the national debt in 8 years.
Obama is going to increase it by 45% over what he inherited in just 4 years.
What’s wrong with this picture?
One of the reasons that we didn't come out of the depression of the 1930's was capital and entrepreneurs sat on the sidelines. New businesses were not being created because of wage and price controls, higher taxes, and increased regulation.
0 is either a dolt, or a cunning destroyer. Watch the mkt decline further and if banks start being nationalized sink even more.
All the gains made to civilize the muslims are going to be lost with this guy in charge.
So who produces jobs? Business.
Who owns the businesses? The wealthy.
So if you want to kill jobs and prolong the recession, tax the people who can actually solve the problem.
Why don't the dems get this simple reality?
Let's see, Hussein Øbama The Magnificent and the associated Freak Show have (in the first month) jacked what Americans are on the hook for by about what, 2.5 Trillion? So half of that over the next four years is about 625 Billion dollar per year increase over the current taxs on "business and the wealthy."
In this economy? Right.
But Hussein Øbama The Magnificent has managed to invent his own new form of economics. Instead of tax and spend, Øbamanomics is now "Spend and Tax."
So, the "Marxism Conversion Act of 2009" came up short in Barry's estimation? Whew! BOHICA indeed!
Liberals don’t seem to know what money represents — a value measure of human labor that serves as a medium for trade.
“Making money” is an American term that was unknown before freedom reigned in America.
Liberals don’t make money, they take it without working for it. Liberals are looters.
A brilliant manuever, to over tax those that produce. That'll create jobs.
I'm not going to quit saying it, "Obama, is and always will be, an enemy of the state."
