DES MOINES, Iowa – Following publicized reports that the Army National Guard was planning a military training exercise on the streets of a rural Iowa town, the commanding officers have called off the mock "invasion."
The Guard had planned a four-day urban military operation in tiny Arcadia, Iowa, population 443, sending troops to take over the town and search door-to-door for a suspected weapons dealer.
The exercise was designed as a mock scenario to give soldiers the skills needed for deployment in an urban environment, and military officials stressed that only households that consented to be part of the drill would be searched.
"It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia," Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company, told Carroll's Daily Times Herald. "We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing.
"We really want to get as much information out there as possible," Kots continued, "because this operation could be pretty intrusive to the people of Arcadia."
Military spokesman Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, however, told WND that the operation has now been "scaled back" and no longer involves an "invasion" of Arcadia.

The news got out before the Monterey, California exercise in March of 1999, and the military carried out their exercise anyway. There were protests against it. If you think the cancellation is creepy, carrying on that 1999 exercise with protesters on site, was even creepier to me.
Yes, that’s true.

My...half the forum is turning into Carty Finkbeiner...
And these where marines...not weekend warriors...
Really after you read a couple of these threads you see how silly this is NOW...just becuase zero is in office?
The US military may be the last friend the american citizen has on the face of god’s earth...dont piss on their leg just yet.
Arcadia, Iowa???
~~~
I thought it was Arcadia,Louisiana!!! (spits on the ground).
Where Bonnie and Clyde got their asses shot all to pieces!
( I met one of them guys when I was lil’ feller),,,
I bet the got some phone calls...;0)
Your thoughts echo mine on the topic. The one caviot I might make, would be that they are only entering the homes of people who have given permission. Let me ask you something, would you feel comfortable with members of our military walking through your home with full battle dress on, and their weapons in hand? I respect the hell out of these guys, but I wouldn’t allow anyone at all to enter my home with a weapon, short of the police or a swat team and I didn’t have any choice.
Army Sec.: Troops Ready for Iraq
White noted the difference in training for such warfare today compared to a decade ago, saying the Department of Defense (news - web sites) now has excellent facilities for training troops in urban fighting on a number of bases - not just at its major training centers.
So if there were so many facilities way back in 2002 you have to wonder why local towns are being used.
I thought it was Louisiana also.
BTW, Bonnie and Clyde had a home in Joplin, Missouri, and we used to drive by it once in a while. Okay, it’s slow in Joplin at times, what can I say. ;-)
We also drove by the building in Coffeeville, Kansas where the Dalton Gang got theirs a couple of times. I remember seeing the bullet holes in the walls in the alley.
if this was planned against homes without fore-allow... oh my!
“...dont piss on their leg just yet.”
Any American who doesn’t look upon the United States Military and its power somberly doesn’t have a good grip on the fragility of freedom.
Let me say again: I’m a patriot and a descended from quite of few fighting men—two of whom died in WWII.
I was raised by my Grandparents and tend to be old-fashioned in my root beliefs.
The power of US Military IS NOTHING TO TAKE LIGHTLY, FRiend.
The parallels and similarities to militarized rule, the softening up of citizen and soldier, the precedent are too, too dangerous.
They have no business “training” in American cities and towns.
This is a skill they DO NOT NEED because THEY WILL NEVER ATTACK AN AMERICAN TOWN, RIGHT?
Again: if they need a town they can build a prop-town.
This is serious, serious stuff, folks.
Exactly... and what will the NWO consider an "weapons's dealer"??
Anyone possessing more than one weapon.
Just watch, next you will be hearing that if you own more than one your'e some kind of 'dealer'.
Watch the movie “The Enemy Within” sometime.
“Let me ask you something, would you feel comfortable with members of our military walking through your home with full battle dress on, and their weapons in hand?”
If you knew me personally you wouldn’t bother asking that question.
They had better be there searching for the Chinese soldiers they winged while defending our town.
I hear ya.
Bump for... later...
The problem IS that they are “weekend warriors”
not regular army or marines. I fear too many of our Ntl Guard troops have been watch the very BAD example of the police officers dressed as ninja’s breaking down doors, hog tieing women children and old ladies, killing citizens pets,.. and more with manufactured warrants.
Oh and for you who think I am making this up type citizen invasions in the search. Just a few weeks ago one of the think tanks had a map with the interactive invasion spots in the U.S.
A large number.... maybe half had the citizen being killed and no evidence found. This has gotten out of control.
Anyway, I think the story of the invasion of Arcadia was a feeler put out by the government to gage citizens awareness. But did anyone see the one young guardsman who was practically salivating talking about what they were going to do.
There was a happy gleam in his eye, and spring in his voice. Maybe I was tired but it was sickening.
Oh, and I have a kid in the regular military currently and my wife has a cousin in the NYPD. So don't play your games and making stupid accusations. Particularly if you have a “member since date” of less than 6 months.
Too tired, don't need the hassle.
I remember that one.
I presume those questions are rhetorical, right?
