MIAMI-DADE COUNTY - Miami-area transportation officials have recently been plagued by graffiti artists leaving large bold 'tags' on important overhead traffic signs -- and now one-such artist may have fallen from a perch to his death, according to local television reports.
The incident happened about 1 a.m. today along the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway near the Bird Road exit, according to WSVN.
Officials on the scene said investigators recovered a can of white spray paint but can't yet be certain that the man was about to deface an overhead green and white traffic sign.
"He may have been up there tagging the sign, but we don't want to say that's exactly what he was doing," Florida Highway Patrol trooper Franciso Lozano told WSVN.
Investigators say the 28-year-old man was on a catwalk above the roadway and fell some 20 to 25 feet to the roadway below, where he was hit by a pick-up truck. The driver stopped at the scene...

Oops. I knew I should have gone for “too clumsy for this job” instead.
If I had my way tagging would be a death penalty offense - on the spot.
You do it and there will be a sub-culture (soon to be mainstream culture) blog out there glorifying your anti-society “Stick it to the man!” artistic efforts. I signed up on Stumble and tried to limit it to art that I like to look at, but instead, I was treated to dark collections of angst-ridden angry, self-absorbed “artists” who are held up as heroes for purposefully shocking and offending people. Property-defacing graffiti is recognized and touted as a high art form among this group.
Unfortunately the victim in this case is the pickup driver. The taggers family will sue and his auto insurance will pay some unbelievable amount then raise his rates or drop him.
I see only one difference in these gang banging taggers and dogs in the street urinating on everything to mark their territory......the dogs aren’t nearly as dangerous.
Misunderstood ‘youths’....Pftt! They’re animals.
Somehow, unlike other “artiste” who died poor and tragedly for their love of art,I doubt he will become famous.
No Paul Gaugin award for for him...
HOO HOO!!!!!!!!! We will save a fortune now that he won’t be going to jail!!!!!!!!

I always want to ask graffiti apologists if the hoodlums spray painted THEIR car or THEIR front door would they still call it “art”.
Wholeheartedly agree.
I used to drive the Palmetto everyday.
Maybe the cops just used his spray paint.
And I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'
