MIAMI-DADE COUNTY - Miami-area transportation officials have recently been plagued by graffiti artists leaving large bold 'tags' on important overhead traffic signs -- and now one-such artist may have fallen from a perch to his death, according to local television reports.
The incident happened about 1 a.m. today along the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway near the Bird Road exit, according to WSVN.
Officials on the scene said investigators recovered a can of white spray paint but can't yet be certain that the man was about to deface an overhead green and white traffic sign.
"He may have been up there tagging the sign, but we don't want to say that's exactly what he was doing," Florida Highway Patrol trooper Franciso Lozano told WSVN.
Investigators say the 28-year-old man was on a catwalk above the roadway and fell some 20 to 25 feet to the roadway below, where he was hit by a pick-up truck. The driver stopped at the scene...

Btw, here's a vid link from Yahoo. You can see the sign he was vandalizing and the interstate in question.

Too bad the driver of the pick-up had to go through that trauma. I hope his insurance will cover the damage to his pick-up.
Hold muh Krylon...
Tag, your it.
This is crooked shyster infested Florida.
The surviving family of this self-exterminated cockroach will sue the Florida Department of Transportation for a “jackpot justice” pay-out.
Darwin Award.
28? Good lord!
“The surviving family of this self-exterminated cockroach will sue”
I have no doubt about that.
I can hear the ambulance chasers now: They should have had safety railings to protect the “artists” who they KNEW would be painting graffiti.
I only have a certain amount of sympathy, and I'm saving it for people like our soldiers who put themselves in harm's way to protect us, not to mess stuff up. Sympathy meter is pegged at 2 on a scale of 100.
I wonder if he tripped over his own pants?
"...we're gooey on the inside and you never know when it's gonna squish out." or something like that. Been a while since I've seen the movie.
I guess you can say his last tag is the one on his toe.
LOL! An eloquent wordsmith poster!
And now there’s a Chalk Outline of him to record his being there.
Something similar happened here in Ohio a few years ago. I am not sure if there were lawsuits but there was a lot of whining about the poor “artist” lost.
‘may have fallen’ ‘can’t yet be certain’ ‘may have been’ ‘we don’t want to say’
I might have an opinion but I don’t want to say yet. I can’t be certain although when I first read the story I might have been.
I expect taggers to be teenagers, adolescents, not fully grown men. That says a lot about this community and the culture that supports it when grown men have nothing better to do than risk their neck to vandalize a road sign.
I'm curious where he worked during the day.
If it was anti-Obama graffiti, I morn him, if it’s the usual blight, then I’m a hypocrite. :P
