When I bought my home in ‘96 the lender tried to talk me into taking twice what I was asking for. If I had bitten I’d have barely been able to afford it...until the insurance tripled and the taxes doubled.

I bet a lot of people were encouraged to take more money. They were flattered and they took it.

A bus driver gets an $800K house? Bus driving must be very profitable now.

Bus driver Minta Garcia admits that she and her husband bought more house than they could afford, but

Stop right there!

It's your fault not the bank's fault that you can't exorcise self control and proper money management.

Stop the bailout of a$$hats like you!

If this woman and husband knew they could not afford this mortgage then so did the lender. WHY would any sane lender push a mortgage he/she knew the buyer could not afford?

The literal value of the house had nothing to do with the amount of the mortgage. Appraisers come and appraisers go.

man, I can’t say enough bad things about Minta. She and people like her are the reason we’re in this mess. I hope nothing but the worst for her.

1. I can’t believe that ugly box was ever worth $800K, and this fool should consider herself lucky it’s worth $675K now. She ought to sell it for whatever she can get—$500K? and consider herself fortunate.

2. There are so many people who are facing foreclosure and are far more sympathetic characters: people who have had setbacks due to health problems, layoffs, divorce or widowhood, natural disasters, and other of life’s problems. Not this vain fool.

A bus driver in an $800,000.00 house?

I was hoping the reporter would ask what she and her husband’s combined income was...but no..they wouldn’t dare get to the nitty gritty details.(eye roll) Did she and her husband lie on their loan ap?

Those are the questions that need answering!

Everyone is a ‘victim’ now and they want those of us who were responsible home buyers to pay for it!

Time for that Tea Party!

This is exhibit A in Santelli’s tea party.

This is outrageous that you and I will spend our tax dollars to help these parasites.
Throw their butts out on the street...

This certainly shows that there is a problem with some mortgages. Missing in the article is any information about the location of the house, the income of the family and how long they have been able to scam the system. Would be interesting.

In some areas people bought houses for the purpose of selling for more in a short time. It worked some of the time then but not now.
