White House: Obama Opposes 'Fairness Doctrine' Revival

*******

President Obama opposes any move to bring back the so-called Fairness Doctrine, a spokesman told FOXNews.com Wednesday.

The statement is the first definitive stance the administration has taken since an aide told an industry publication last summer that Obama opposes the doctrine -- a long-abolished policy that would require broadcasters to provide opposing viewpoints on controversial issues.

"As the president stated during the campaign, he does not believe the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated," White House spokesman Ben LaBolt said.

That was after both senior adviser David Axelrod and White House press secretary Robert Gibbs left open the door on whether Obama would support reinstating the doctrine.

"I'm going to leave that issue to Julius Genachowski, our new head of the FCC ... and the president to discuss. So I don't have an answer for you now," Axelrod told FOX News Sunday over the weekend. ..........

This is disinformation. We all know he wants the fairness doctrine. He will get Waxman and Reid to get it done.

Seeing how a list of his flip-flops could fill its own Internet, how can this bring comfort to anyone?

He will come out six months from now saying he finds the Democrat bill that’s definitely NOT the Fairness Doctrine “interesting” and Republican claims that it’s the Fairness Doctrine with lipstick on it are “the usual partisan politics”.

This is merely a diversion.

He is likely just changing tactics.

An absolute crock of bull excrement. What else is new, right? Slimey as ever, this just means that they will not call their efforts to silence dissent, “the Fairness Doctrine”. It will simply come in a different wrapper, and via the backdoor in the FCC.

Zero knows if the Fair Doctrine becomes law, conservatives can demand equal time on the MSM networks and public radio. He knows they have a monopoly already and the last thing the Left wants to do is give the Right a wider audience.
